26 coffeeshops in downtown Amsterdam must close their doors
To be quite honest, I thought that the these shops were gonna close from the start. But now, I actucally have some reason to believe that not everyone up in Amsterdam wants these shops closed. I mean think about, the income these coffeeshops bring in. The people all around the world that come just to smoke from there. Besides, they have several ideas that ive heard including legal pot gardens, and why not make legal pot gardens, after all Amsterdam is pretty much legal for, Idk (Weed)..... This summer is probaly gonna tell us more about whats gonna happen, but if you really think about it... They cant possibly close these shops, without a fight atleast, which I believe is going to be A BIG FIGHT.

SO much can happen between now and september 2012, but the changes we've all seen over even just the last two years don't bode well.
i'm a optimist however, and i'm hoping the BCD will try find a way round or through this potential crisis and that the regeneration project in centrum can be tweaked a little. Btw, did the "26 to close" replace the"43 to close" or what?

Babylon? You mean Baba's maybe?liquidSwords wrote:What about Babylon Coffeeshop, on the road between Warmoestraat and the Damrak???
and if your saying one 2 of 4 age going on Oudebrugsteeg, then surely its got to be Grasshoper II and Speak Easy.... De Kuil and De Kroon are the otherside of the Damrak and are the better 2 shops out of the 4.
Be a shame to lose shops, the closure of even the worst shop (Old Church IMO) has to have a bad effect on all of us, once they start they will figure out more and more ways to ban coffeeshops all around Holland.
When is this ment to be happening???
EDIT- forgot to add the other road which babylon was in between

my guess is that the babylon is the new name for the kingston
my clues:
google maps page for babylon coffeeshop
ACD web page for Kingston
the address for both is Beursstraat 27, 1012 JV, Amsterdam

it all seems a shame that things are having to change due to the 'world government'.
where is the individuality? f*ck the EU, only the fat cats and big wigs who can profit through people like ours misfortunes actually want to be a part of it.
I escape England as often as I can to the Netherlands, and specifically Amsterdam, to sample how life SHOULD be lived, the simplistic yet fascinating way of life that are the Dutch, I love it. Seems a shame that an important contributor to this way of life, and the local economy, has to be altered in an ATTEMPT to bring crime rates down. No guarentees, just hopes.

man, this has nothing to do with crime rates, and someone who uses the word "world government" should know that. its all about money! no chance right now in the EU, everyone in europe right now is trying to make as much money as possible, I dont know why, but europe has gone down very very fast in the last years....singwordssosad wrote:it all seems a shame that things are having to change due to the 'world government'.

of course you are right, what I wanted to say was the samesingwordssosad wrote:true shady, but the single tunneled vision of a potential world government see crime as a major opportunity to look as if they are 'changing the workd' thus justifying their power.
how is it all about money like?
they only use the crime rate to make more money by illegalizing plants that could heard their busines

Its strange ground the whole their would be less crime if weed was legal. Yes there would, but if you legalised murder there would be less crime. But would the world be safer?sh@dy wrote: they only use the crime rate to make more money by illegalizing plants that could heard their busines
Im not saying that cannabis caused murder etc, i am pro legalisation. I just think the reduction in crime rates would be the weakest opinion to use.
Alot of the medical reasons you state Shady seem alot more logical.
