Professional Advice/Opinions Needed

Post by Mr Oranje »

Hey everyone,

Firstly this is not a plug, but a serious plea to try and get some professional opinions on some of my work I am doing.

The Basics:

I have made a website which is dedicated to me and my mates writing summaries for the Amsterdam Coffee shops it will also include all the travel that we are doing and our stories etc. This is printed in my signature below.

My main question is about the forum I run. It use to be a forum for everybody to just chat about random rubbish and was quite popular with about 1000 members. Unfortunately it got really quiet and I didn't use it much or promote it. It would be a shame to lose all the subject and memories on there but I am willing to do it if people think that change is needed.

It may be better for me to have a forum that is a bit more focussed on the subjects from my site i.e. Travel, Amsterdam and Coffeeshops. It may also be better to have a updated version of something like phpBB like this forum as the current one is quite old and restricting. To be honest though it has allowed me to do most things needed of a forum including videos now. Not really sure if you can with this one??

My current Forum is here: [Oranje Forum]

So I have three options and I just want people to help decide what to do really.

Option 1

Start Fresh, Get a new forum, Lose all members and memories but also get more professional and focussed look.

Option 2

Keep the old forum and update it, make it look better and change the topics to more relevant subjects.

Option 3

Do both, but keep the old one hidden away and just have a small link for the people that would ever want to remember it??

All options I am prepared to do!! Please help.

change is good and keeps people on their toes...memories are also important, so if you can do both....go for it...(imo)

Yer I may do that not sure yet still need more opinions. It will be alot of work to get whole new forum up and running though so thats my only real concern. Plus getting all the members back.

Can I ask a question about your grasshopper eindhoven review?

Is it definetely current and the one in Eindhoven?Because it seems to sort of go against much of the other comments and or opinions of this coffee shop.Just wanted to check because it seems odd :?

I looked at your web page and it is quite well laid out. However a LOT of your links do not work :? Also one of the things that makes this forum is the variety of opinions and members.Including some who live and / or work in Amsterdam. So to be honest you are just 3 english blokes doing cs reviews. You need more diversity in your bunch maybe? Also I think to make reviews more credible they should be dated for the visit you rated them on.Not meant in a bad way just my 2 cents

Peace :D

Thanks for the advice, the one we rated was the one in the photo we used on our site. When I get back to England I will make the page make more sense. It was mainly the customer service that let them down, they just seemed to not even care we were there.

As for the diversity I agree that is partly why we want more people to comment on the forums. But the three of us just decided to rate them in that certain way. Soon we make the site a lot bigger and give the opportunity to vote for certain aspects of the coffee shop and ratings as well.

Regards,
