I'd visit AF Huis later in the day. I think they might be open until 21:00. I stopped by after a day trip to Haarlem. Walked right in, no waiting.

I underatand that the Af house to some people is a shrine and I respect that but I can never see myself going in for 2 reasons
A. I was given the book to read when I was 6 years old and had nightmares for months ...nuff said
B. t'would spoil da buzz
and C

Okay, so me and my brothers are in town this evening for a few days. Aim to hit Basjoe's for the first time this trip and also try out some others that I've not been to before; Stix, Paradox, Sanamentereng, Tertulia as well as whichever of these ones closest to VP we happen to stumble across.
We're staying very near Cafe Nes so plan on checking that out as well.

I want to try all of those!!! Well I go to Basjoe and Stix and Nes anyway, but not been to the others yet and they are definitely on my list

I went to AF huis completely sober. Can't say that it was really an 'enjoyable' experience. IMO it wasn't the best WW2 holocaust 'museum' I've attended either.
The Holocaust exhibition at the Imperial War Museum in London a few years back was much less 'touristy' and far more sobering. It brought both me and my dad (50 at the time) to tears, what with the huge wall with the known names of victims and the huge box full of victims shoes. Sorry for going off topic, but I personally wouldn't even recommend the AF huis that highly. Bit of controversy? Just my opinion.
