Amsterdam Coffeeshop Directory Forums

I searched and found a few posts where people had mentioned they stayed there but that was before the smoking ban. I was just wondering if anyone has stayed there recently, or know of anyone who has, and what their thoughts were. I'd rather not get booted out of the hotel after getting caught smoking

Supposedly, the windows open so I can try and air the room out a bit...or just blow the delicious smoke out the window directly *shrug*.

Is it a pretty nice place? Good staff, etc?

Never stopped there but you do realise it's an Airport hotel and not in the city? it'll be a 20 min train journey everytime you want to hit the city, if you haven't booked it I'd try and find somewhere in the city, if you have booked it see if you can cancel it without being charged.

For future referance always check http://www.tripadvisor.com/ - I find its the best referance for hotels.

Yeah, we realize it's an airport hotel...it was a decision we weighed out. Since it's our first time, we figured being able to be picked up from the airport and go directly to the hotel was worth it. Plus, being our first visit we don't know our way around and weren't entirely comfortable walking around with our luggage and all that *shrug*. The Dorint also had a few features that we really wanted that most of the hotels in Centre City didn't offer.

I'll admit that having to take the train in to the city every day is annoying...but I personally have to drive 45 minutes to work every day so it doesn't bother me all that much

Bit of a late reply, and probably useless since my stay was before the smoking ban, but as you say the window will open (slightly) which would be fine for a few quick tokes.

Not sure how long you're staying but suggest you also take the train the other way, and take a wander around Haarlem. Some good coffeeshops there (I liked WW Indica) and it's pretty laid back and cruisy after a few days in Amsterdam.

Better late than never

Thanks for the reply. It was actually a little encouraging. We're basically just going to blow like 2 bong rips a piece out the window. There's definitely not going to be a smokefest or anything as our tolerance is low and 1 or 2 hits is all we'll ever need for the week.

Thanks for the suggestion regarding Haarlem as well. I've read it's really nice over there and more laid back than the centruum.
