SIM card?

Hello,

Leaving to the dam in 9 days! Got a question for all you fine forum-goers. I'll be bringing a carrier-unlocked iPhone. Technically, the phone will work with any GSM sim card if I'm not mistaken.

1) How and where do you obtain a sim card and sign up for one of those prepaid plans while in amsterdam?

2) Has anyone tried a NL sim card with an iPhone unlocked? If so, was the plan a success?

I have no idea if the phone will work or not, someone should be along who knows more than I do! But what I wanted to say is that some people have brought this up before, and I really think it's a good idea, get one of those "throw away" prepaid cell phones from a shop there. I'd imagine that they should only be slightly more than just a plain SIM card.

That's true, it's just that no matter what I'm bringing my iphone either with a local sim or with no cell capabilities. I just got the new one and a magnetometer (built in compass) combined with note + map storing capabilities make it a powerful companion in amsterdam.

I did this last year and had the map from this site as a picture. If I can also use it as a cell to stay in touch with other groups it'd be great

yes your unlocked phone will work and there are tons of places that you an buy a plan from. Thats what I did. Its cost 20 euros and I got 15 hours credit. they will tell you how much it costs to call to what ever country you want to call and you use it till your mins are used up.
