Amsterdam and people of color

I was wondering how the people of Amsterdam feel about people of color. I know there is ignorance everywhere, but how do the locals treat Asians, African, Spanish people. I seen Cannibus Cup videos and there appeared to be an eclectic crowd. Are there places where people of color should avoid? [/b]

Amsterdam is such a multi-cultural society it doesn't matter what colour you are, just relax and enjoy.

Amsterdam is the most accepting city I have EVER visited... But saying that, I have witnessed two examples of very blatant and uncomfortable racism, once in a coffeeshop and once in a bar. I have never returned to either of the places but the 'comments' were offered by the locals and backed up by the staff. I find it hard to believe Amsterdam could be more racist than any English or French city at the moment, but I am white so I suppose, how would I really know?

Don’t let it stop you visiting this amazing city. Small minded bigots are everywhere, but decent people are in the majority, I believe… I hope...

I've been several times and have never had any problems. Don't worry and have fun!

However, in Amsterdam, clear people (i.e. those with no colour whatsoever) are held in the highest contempt. :D

You know when it comes to racism, people say: "I don't care if they're black, white, purple or green"... Ooh hold on now: Purple or Green? You gotta draw the line somewhere! To hell with purple people! - Unless they're suffocating - then help'em.

I'm of Indian origin and in 17 odd years of visiting, have never encountered any problems at all. I consider Amsterdam to be an international city, in much the same way as say London is.
Im sure there is plenty of racism there, but no more than other places.
