If anyone is staying there soon in a double room with WC/shower in room request room 79 as I left a 1/2 gram of blueberry haze ice hash from the Noon behind the picture on the wall with the tv.

Kingdoc we left a gram of afghan hash from picaso and a cone of nyc diesel from 420 for that. I did not figure they would take the picture off the wall to look for a stash.

Maybe during a spring clean so to speak.

funny. We stayed in room 79, but didn't think to check behind the picture. Given the quality of our maid (not exactly top shelf), it's probably still there :D

and might as well stop to review the hotel while I'm at it....

The place is about 10 minute hike from the Ledseplien, and close to the museum district.

It's pretty clean and friendly. The breakfast is good (traditional dutch). The stairs are exciting (as is all of Amsterdam :D ), the rooms relatively straightforward.

The maid didn't do much for us for the first couple of days - so I asked at the desk if they clean on alternate days, and she was surprised our maid wasn't on top of things. Given her response, I think the person is now either doing a far better job, or working at a different hotel.

I recommend and will stay at Hotel Abba again....

i stayed in the hotel abba last july (2009)

the room was very basic, but i was half expecting that, breakfast was included which was not bad just the usual dutch eggs etc, however,

BEDBUGS

i was bitten red raw by the end of my 4 nights, and the lumps stayed with me for ages,

my god it was painful,

so i suppose it depends which room you get, mine was a small single room with a glass door to a shared balcony.

You sure you weren't bitten by mossies? they're out in force in Amsterdam during the summer months.

Abba is in a great location outside of the usual Centrum chaos.
An Albert Hein is right outside the door, and Blue Lagoon coffee shop down the street which may have some of the best prices in all of Amstewrdam; truely a locals place.

I also had quite a few bites after staying there last year. However, since the window was open when I was smoking (ie all the time I was in the room) it could be any insects... but the bites were too lumpy, in patterns and took weeks to dissapear which indicates bed bugs in my book.

It's a little shabby, but good enough if you want something basic. I'd stay there again if I'm low on funds.

i would agree. the hotel itself was fine, i also would stay there again, and the albert hein underneath was a godsend most days for me, and a tram stop just over the road made travel anywhere a godsend,

also Leidseplein is a minutes away by foot and somehow i had missed this area before, i spent a lot of good times in and around there, great cheap resturants,

I really liked the place and stayed there twice and never had a problem with bed bugs. The table pic is of our first buys of the trip.

This warning was taken serious and windows were opened.

I have a twin room with shared facilities booked for early nov (4 nights) for 180 euros (non refundable- saves 20 euros for something nicer  ) so in comparison to other rooms its a great price for me. :)
