First Trip! 14th - 17th July 2009

Post by Federer »

Right then! Some of you guys may have read my post on here a while ago whilst planning my first trip, well..... it has finally materialized so here are some plans (copied from my previous post and some exact details now iv got it all booked :-)

Fly from Birmingham (uk) On tuesday 14th get in to the dam just after lunch ish then walk to our hotel The "Rembrandt Classic" just picked it as it got relatively good reviews and my mate wanted a hotel as apposed to a hostel......i wasn't bothered and it was pretty cheap. Guess we'll see what its like soon! not going to let it affect the trip though.

Then iv got to hope my phone works ok over there and get in contact with a couple of mates were meeting over they who are traveling europe this summer and go hit up a coffee shop for a some and a bite to eat then just see where the day takes us :-)

Still, while Im there my plans from before still stand, those being; visit loads of coffee shops mainly the following plus other that take our fancy

(In no particular order)

Abraxas
Rokerij
Green Place
The Grey Area
Mellow Yellow
Rasta Baby
Blues Brothers - (Mainly for a photo because its my favourite film (I know there is nothing apart from the name that related to the film) and although people seem to say its not a very good CS id like to go just to say I have and form my own opinion)

I know some of these have received some negative reviews but something about them appealed to me, still looking advice on shops I haven’t mentioned and any thoughts on the ones I have.

Whilst in the various coffee shops I’d like to try these strains:

Chocoloupe
LA Confidential
Purple Kush
Laughing Buddah
Jack Herrer
Super Silver Haze
Lavender
Amnesia Haze
Blueberry
Mellow Berry
Cheese - on liquidSwords recommendation (cheers)

I’m looking for a variety of different types, some indica, some sativa. Some to make me buzz and some to feel chilled. I often find that the smoke I get over here is a very sleepy stone, feels ace but whilst I’m there id like to be up and buzzing like some of the smoke iv got occasionally.

Im also looking for some cheaper strains so I can smoke a lot but with occasionally special stand out buds?

Also whilst in the ‘dam I want to try some proper hash, over here its always horrible and id like to experience what its really like.

You guys got any feedback on my chosen strains, ones to avoid, ones to seek out? Also where I can find some good hash.

On my wanderings I also play to try a vaporizer so any tips on that is also greatly received.

Whilst In the ‘dam id also like to see if I can make it to the Van Gough Museum, like to see what I think whilst im high, the Hash Marihuana Hemp Museum and or the Cannabis College.

I’m going to see if I can ride a bike whilst high and if I can then id be very interested in one of the ganja tours if not, I will try and make it to one of the walking ones.

Then fly out on the morning of the 17th :-(

Let me know if there is anything I have missed / forgotten. Must see’s, Must Avoids, etc etc

Cheers
Take it easy, Federer

I have decided to quit smoking in the UK, and am going to make 6 monthly visits to the dam instead!

I hope you have a chilled time, but by the looks of it you may be busy! I'd recommend going to the heiniken museum if you have time as it is first class.

Not sure where im going to visit, staying on haarlemstraat but i want to try as many different strains as possible (only going to buy 1 gram bags!)

Peace

Welcome to the forum.

You have been posted on the July Whos In Town page.

You can see who else may be in town during your stay.
There are Meet and Greets on the 16th and 17th.

By default I link your posting to your profile page here on ACD.

I can change it to a web link ( myspace, facebook, personal page )
or an email address if you want.

First timers get my S G Collins recommendation
I think a read of this will maximize your efficiency once you get there.

How not to get hit by a bike and other stuff they forgot to tell you about Amsterdam.

within the website that FlyByNite mentions there is a section entitled How not to get hit by a bike

if you have already read this document then that is great

if you have not read this document then please please find some time to read it for your safety, the traffic in amsterdam is nuts and if you are smoking extra care is needed, so thanks

have a great trip ...

Glad to see you have finally book up bro :-)

lol, remember Cheese normally knocks your socks off so go easy :-)

And you may well be lucky enough to get a seat in Grey Area, and if you do make sure you take it, cos its not often that there is a spare seat :-)

G-13 (Haze) might be one to add to your must smoke strains, and maybe a trip to 420 Cafe/De Kuil should be added... and as for Cheese, HomeGrown Fantasy always comes out on tops from most stoners point of view....

Have a great trip bro

Federer wrote:Concertgebouw - FREE Lunchtime concert
sorry, i'm pretty sure this happens only during the winter months and only on wednesdays (but yes it is fantastic, the concert is often performed by younger musicians to give them experience of an actual live event)

i will have a look at the website now and update later with news

ps the website for the concertgebouw is www.concertgebouw.nl, looking at the AGENDA calendar on the left, setting the date for each successive wednesday shows the 12:30 free concerts starting only in september

but if you like music, you would enjoy a visit to the concertgebouw, the acoustics are the among the best of the world's concert halls

and they don't only put on classical music, Pink Floyd performed there in 1969, amazing ...

Cheers for the link to the homepage of the place, I enjoy classical music but not quite as much as my mate that is coming with me so may make a visit to a concert there.

Only reason i thought it was free was as on the who's in town page for july 15th it said free concert hehe, and as a music nut i couldnt turn that down.

Still, on a similar note, can anyone recommend any bars / coffee shops that might have some live music on the nights im there, 14th 15th and 16th?
