80 Euros Per Day?

Post by Doog »

My daily budget for food and drink is 80 Euros.

I have additional money set aside for travelling expenses around the city, entrance fees to museums/attractions and ,of course, smokes.

Just wondering how far the 80 Euros per day for food and drink will stretch and I'd be interested to hear from recent visitors.

My hotel has breakfast included in the price so I intend to make the most of that in order to cut down on snacks later on.

I also like a beer, but I would say that most of the drinks will be soft drinks sold in coffeeshops (cola, o.j, etc) due to the amount of smoking I've got planned.

I will be using places like Maoz, KFC and Vlaamse Frites stalls for dinner.

:? 80 Euros per day should be enough shouldn't it :?

I suppose it will also depend on how much and what you intend to smoke.

That's very kind of you Neuro.

I'll make sure I've got a good bit of smoke with me at the Dampkring as a "thank you" for the beers, although I will watch what I'm doing and not take advantage.

Dampkring should be a good one.

:D Only 3 days to go now and I'm there on the Monday. Looking forward to meeting you and your friend on the Tuesday :D

€80 a day for food and drink is plenty mate, me and the mrs spend a maximum of €200 a day and thats on everything!

Like you said KFC, Maoz & Frietes is all good and cheap, dont forget Wok 2 walk as well a good meal for less than €10, another money saving thing is to stock up at the local Albert Heijn with munchies for your room this too can save a few €'s.

I always try and budget for the first half of my trip then the 2nd half I can go mad and really live it up!

Just checked my diary after reading your post and it is 1400 in Sensi on Tuesday.

Got a hook up arranged at Dampkring for the Wednesday and kinda got names and places mixed up.

I WON'T GET MIXED UP ON THE DAY

Sounds good!!! Maybe a quick trip to Greenhouse Centrum afterwards. I've never been to Sensi. Do they sell beer??

Looks like it's coffee or soda (no beer)

They DO sell seeds.

Might be better to meet there and get the introductions over with and then go to a place that does sell beer (like Greenhouse Centrum) so that we can get down to business.

I'm easy, easy like Sunday morning.

Next door to Grey Area is Foodism. Dinner or lunch, you won't be disappointed. It's fairly priced, with vegetarian selections as well.

Across the street (Oude Leilestraat) is Cafe Zool. Stop there for a cool lager.

This is my Grey Area routine. YMMV :-)

Yo Doog, Have you changed your mind about going for the Gunpowder? It wasn't on your list. I'm going to definately try to check it out next trip (April 18 - April 19). I had always gone for the Grey Mist Crystals before but all the Gunpowder chatter has me interested in comparing them head to head.

80€ sounds like more than enough to me - I don't spend anything near that amount on my trips for food and drinks. No more than 12€ or 15€ on drinks in cafes or coffeeshops per day (no alcohol). I also eat on the run at MAOZ, the fish kiosks, hot dog stands etc. It doesn't seem to come to much. I spent a lot last time on gifts for the family, which I didn't expect to do, but those shops in Amsterdam have a lot of cool stuff. A few years ago when I got stopped by customs at the train station here in Paris on my return I had the impression that the gifts in my backpack helped to convince the agent that I wasn't a smuggler but just another harmless tourist, which I was. Good thing he didn't look in my underwear! After that I started putting my return stash deeper but I never really relax on the return trip. I'm way off topic. Cheers. Look forward to your trip report.

Kinda forgot about the old Gunpowder because of all the other stuff I've heard about.

If all the ones on my list are all in stock in all of the shops then I'll probably just leave the Gunpowder right to the last day when I won't have much smoke left and then I will use it in my crazy joint with all the other stuff that I've got left.

If one or two are not in stock and I have to get something cheaper (maybe less potent as well) then I will use the money saved there to buy some GP before the last day.

Hey Doog, I spent something like €200 whilst there on my trip. (Wed eve, all day Thurs and up until 8pm Fri). We ate out all the time (mostly on the go) We did have a sit down Pizza meal in an Itallian which with 2 rounds of cokes was about €30 for 2 of us.

€80 per day should be plenty, maybe even too much?

Not long now mate... I know exactly just how damned excited you are feeling AND how slow time seems to be going ??!!
