Using a GPS?

Post by MrHappy »

I will, for the first time, be using my Garmin GPS on this my 7th visit. And my brother will have his IPhone application.

I love getting pleasantly lost but there are times when I would like to just get there.

Did you find that you used yours' much?

No man, i dont use maps really much either, unless finding a new place. I find in Amsterdam if you just follow your feet, you usually find something good.

The only map I've ever used in Amsterdam.

Sometimes, I plan my route with google maps if I am venturing off the ACD map.

I carry the ACD map but I hardly use it, I love just finding my way and have found some pretty awesome sights by making a wrong turn here and there.

I've used the ACD map for my past 5 visits along with a laminated, more-detailed version. But I'm thinking I might save time and aggravation by just punching in the address if I'm halfway across town.

I guess it depends on how reliable it is. Like stuart said, it might just turn us around.

I like getting lost in Amsterdam, but I use my Nokia phone with inbuilt GPS function to get me on track when i need to. I've programmed lots of various places into it, so if i want to get somewhere specific, i can do so.

If i'm traveling solo I use Tom tom or Garmin on my N95, I have listed my poi's here https://www.coffeeshopdirect.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=9646.

I also have a copy of the ACD map saved to my phone which I find great for reference.

If im with the boys or my better half I leave all the navigating to them.

Thanks for the POI's!
The ACD map electronically is a great idea. I'll see if I can get it onto my Garmin.
