Pass the parcel

Post by Rez »

What about having an ACD Forum Visitor's book somewhere in A'dam.

Say, if I was leaving town on a Friday and another Forum member was arriving in town either that day or shortly after would it be possible for a book that we could just write a line or two in could be passed on from one member to another. Maybe it could be left in a CS or Hotel or any onther place ?

Your thoughts please or am I just too off my head and made an ass of myself

Like your idea Rezin_8_ed. Talk to DC to see if might be interested, since he works at Nes. AzLaker 8)

Yeah the Nes would be a excellent place for a book like this, I'm sure that the guys that run the place would be cool seeing that it guarentee's them return visitors!

I see a bargaining oppertunity here... with such vast volume of custom revolving around the ACD Members Comments Book  surely a discount could be offered

Not a bad idea and with the added human touch of people's handwriting instead of the nameless, faceless computerised world of the forum (which is not a bad thing in any way either.

I wonder about how long it would last though in the modern world of computers and also with so many iternet cafes nowadays along with coffeeshops that have internet access.

Anyone who goes to Amsterdam can have access to the forum at just about any time of day from various locations rather than seeking out one specific shop to sign a book.

I agree that DC would be the best person to ask about this book, as he lives and works in Amsterdam and is also a member of the forum and could see that the book is looked after and forum members could go in and announce themselves tom DC or whoever was working and sign it.

I wonder.........................

Yeah, I wonder.... who's the next person in A'dam... Doog

If you get a chance Doog, pop in and see DC, ask him what he thinks (thats if he don't read this 1st  )

Maybe Doog, you could be the first member in the new book, mate, buddy, pal... Only if you get the chance, and if you can remember !!

Hours indeed. The excitement levels are getting kinda scary now it's so close. I can say now that the next seven days in Amsterdam will wipe the floor with any seven days I have spent on any other holiday.

I'll certainly be popping in to Nes at some point during DC's working week (Fri-Sun I believe?) and maybe even before then. As I've said I'll be on every day with updates and I'll also be checking the other posts so if DC hasn't contributed to this thread then I'll run the idea past him and I'll let you know in the next day's update.

I don't know about the book though. The more I think about it the more I think that it might not get really off the ground in the modern world of computers and internet.

I'm also thinking now that the things written in the book could get offensive or just plain silly and it will end up getting binned.

DC is the man to ask.

To make it more interesting and something we don't do here, is a photo album. We all know each other, but don't have a face to go with the name. All of us take photos while we're there, so drop off a picture and sign the book. Maybe more people would be inclined to search out the BOOK just to see what each other looks like, and do the same. Just a thought I'd pass along. AzLaker 8)

The key word being "exclusive", only forum readers or members would know about it and use it. To have something physicle instead of virtual would be just that bit more personal and therefor special.

Obviously with over 500 members and numerous visitors "The Book" could get filled up very quickly but I only think there would be a small percentage of the forum members that would consider finding "The Book" worth the effort.

If it excisted I'm sure it would be duplicated online with members returning home and posting a message on the forum under "The Book" heading and saying whos was there before them and what poeple had written... "The Book" for me, would be a very important and MUST do part of my trip.
