56 hours till I touch down... after reading this my mouth is already watering!!

I just got back this am and should be reporting in a bit. But, on the topic of the OG mystery, I smoked OG Kush at Greenhouse Lounge, and there it was listed as a SSH X Kush cross.

The OG Kush (who's name is pure marketing just like all bud) came out of the cali kush craze, and I know it was at the HT Kush cup event in, like, 2006? I think that article might have alleged that it wasn't actually kush.

It was fun to smoke and really pretty. It had nice purple coloration with almost burgundy hairs. Reminded me of baby artichokes. It was also strong with a pleasantly stupid old school thump.

Anyway, this is just a teaser to say picks coming later today. It was a beautiful three days (even if the weather was a tease most of the time). The bud was phenomenal.

I'm finally sitting down to chill with a bit of Basjoe's AK 47 and I have to say that this last three-day jaunt might have been my best trip yet. As y'all will see, I found some absolutely great bud this trip.



Basjoe's AK 47

The Mr. and I moved to the Alps from the US last month. This trip was a really last minute reward for finishing the majority of our relocation hassle. Our goal was to get a lot of R & R along with some absolutely killer bud. Since we were very mellow in our pacing we only visited a handful of shops relying on our personal favorites plus a few new place's people had been talking about here.

As always, I didn't get to most of the places I was planning to see. Once I slip into the dreaminess of the city I no longer have it in my heart to stick to a schedule. So, notably, I have not yet made it to Katsu or Little and if I had more time I would have stopped by Amnesia.

(I'm just teasing you with all of the weed you will not be hearing about in my report.)

On the plus side, I will share the word on five of my favorite shops and 15 tasty strains of beautiful bud, all with photos.

Glad you had a good trip, am still to experience Basjoes, was closed everytime I tried on my last trip.

Bifton, what a bummer that Basjoe's was closed, but at least you have one fun new place to add for next time. (That's how I'm trying to not be bummed about missing the jaunt down to dePijp. Every time I went to set out for Katsu/Little/Media it would start to spit rain and I'd hit something stronger than I expected... oh well, new fun for next time.

Baked, unless I know someone well enough to meet them in person I'm not going to talk about where I live. Sorry about that, but I sound distinctive and my husband's job is sensitive. I'm learning German now though, which is a blast. I've also found it useful that I speak French (I lived in Paris for a bit a few years ago.)

Back to the pictures and smokes soon, we're just helping friends move this morning so I will have to jet out in a minute.

Oh don't you worry Geeky, will make sure I get there next time. I think I was going too early or something but hey that's what's so good about the dam, if one is closed there is always another one up the road.

We got into Central Station in the am after a pretty miserable trip on the night train. We checked our bags in the train station and headed over to Greenhouse Lounge. Once upon a time we had plans to swing in Damkring II on the way to pick up some extra weed to taste, but we were just so tired and cranky we decided that it had to be food first.

The place had only opened shortly before we arrived and the dark-haired male bud-tender was not particularly friendly at that hour. Being a drizzly Sunday morning, we couldn't really blame him and we bought a gram each of the Arjan's Ultra Haze and the OG Kush after a brief consultation. This is the first time I've been in the shop and the menu looked good. Not outrageously priced and with a good mix of old favorites plus some of the trendier weeds right now.

The shop is beautiful inside, with the main floor smoking area featuring a really cool fishtank with large koi under the center of the floor. My favorite room is the upstairs room in the back, which is done in dark mellow wood and warm yellow walls. The view out over the shop to the street is great and there is a tv showing nature footage that really entertained my husband.

The best thing about Greenhouse lounge for me is the food. Not more expensive than any cheap restaurant in the dam and the food is really good quality, served by pleasant and competent waitresses and fairly priced. I love having table service and the proximity to the train station made it a great first and last stop this trip.

Of course, what you really care about is the weed and these were both very enjoyable smokes.



Arjan's Ultra Haze Greenhouse Lounge

The budtender claimed this was his strongest haze and that it was 20% thc. It was extremely pretty, and had a super lemon and pine haze fragrance with a light fruitiness. It was farily strong for a haze and the high was both clear and energetic and surprisingly stupid at the same time. The taste was very light, and it was very mellow to smoke. It was a nice weed to chill on. A milkshake for the mister and a berry smoothie for me and we were smiling in no time.

We ordered breakfast (eggs and potatoes for me, toasty and hummus for him) and opened up the OG Kush. It has the most amazing smell that you just want to keep sticking your nose in. Intriguingly dank and sour smelling, it had our mouth watering before we even hit it. The best I can say is that it smelled like sour apple candy and skunk. But you know, really really good.



OG Kush Greenhouse Lounge

Here was the old-school thump that had been missing from our last trip! A very mellow high but strong. The flavor also delivered with a great sour skunk taste that lingered in the nicest way. Visually, as you can see the buds were small but very pretty. Light purple streaks and chocolate hairs are really interesting to look at. Call me crazy, but this bud reminds me of baby artichokes with their delicate coloring and waxy leaves.

Next stop was Basjoeshttps://www.coffeeshopdirect.com/Basjoe.html, where I had not been before, but was at the top of my must try list due to recent reviews. This may be my new favorite shop. It has a very laid back atmosphere, with comfy booths reminding me of a small-town diner. James' counter is in the back of the shop and he is a lovely man. The vibe is chill here and seemed to be mostly serious smokers and a few locals. I was eager to get checked into the hotel and get a nap, so I just chilled with James long enough to pick up some tasty buds.

First, I started at the low end of the menu with the Orange Bud for 6e/g (may be 7e). I also looked at the Super Skunk, which was the same price and also looked good.



Orange Bud Basjoe's

It was recommended as a nice mid-day high, and that's exactly how it smoked for me. Only moderately strong and nicely energetic, this is a great get up and go weed and even has minor head-clearing effects. I may just be fanciful, but it tasted a bit like orange tang to me. That is to say the smoke was light and a little sour. It was beautiful bud and a great buy for the price.

Despite its great charms, the Orange Bud just pales in comparison to the AK 47 (9e/g). This weed was absolutely frosted. The super-dense tight buds remind me of gunpowder green tea.



AK 47 Basjoe's

Like a good classic car, a good classic strain can still be a great ride. Maybe it's just nostalgia for my first trip to the dam, but I loved this weed with irrational intensity. It has a spicy oily smoke that is reminiscent of cheese to me, but only a very light smell. Tasty, strong, and very energetic and stupid this high is really fun. It's also very sensual and good with food, music, and sex. (Although what isn't good with food, music, and sex?)

Finally, we got some phenomenal Amnesia Haze (12e/g). This was the juiciest looking Amnesia Haze that I've seen, and as it's a favorite of mine I look at it almost everywhere and smoke it often.



Amnesia Haze Basjoe's

Great fragrant herbal haze smell, with rosemary really being the dominant note. Full, spicy, fruity flavor. Stronger than Barney's Amnesia Haze, but with that same energetic and drifty high. Since it is stronger, it is actually a little less sensual than other Amnesia Haze's I've smoked. Better to drift in your own thoughts than to play with others on this one for me.

When I ran out to get dinner I also dropped into Rokerij III https://www.coffeeshopdirect.com/Rokerij3.html. I love this shop at times and at times I feel totally out of place. A small smoking room is on the main floor, with the weed counter downstairs. The decor is global hippy with a lot of small wooden stools. The wall murals and painted ceiling are beautiful as are the candles and great light fixtures.



Rokerij III

Since the place is so small, a few personalities quickly come to dominate the shop. I prefer it in the early morning when it is quiet, and their fresh-squeeze OJ is great. More importantly, their buds are beautiful. I grabbed some White Widow for 9e/g.

Beautiful and strong. This weed makes you forget how to think in no time. As with other classic strains, this one is more about the quality of the high than the taste or smell, and neither were memorable, but the thumping, hazy, lazy high was really first rate.
