Did you ever try the Dirty Jack Herer @ Floyds? it's been years since I tried it but it still stands out in my memory as one of the best weeds I've ever smoked and not just in Amsterdam.

I remember sitting in Pink Floyd smoking with Richard (tall dealer and one of the friendliest people I've ever met) there was some shite music on which I mentioned so he put David Gilmour in concert (the dvd) on and I just floated away, that was probably one of the single best times I've had in a coffeeshop.

End of hijack, sorry.

sh@dy wrote: where was this? it always depends on the dealers you get, thats a rule in every shop, I even had bad ones in my favourite shop Mellow Yellow. At dampkring we usually have very friendly dealers, but I know one guy working there who is a total asshole.....it depends ;)
it was the one that used to be pink floyd

but yeah i understand that about the drinks, but its not like we didnt spend any money

and i wouldnt mind, but we didnt even buy weed at the greenhouse up the street and we sat in there for over an hour using their bongs, nobody said a word to us

the waitress in dampkring was a real bitch about it too, she started saying "i dont know what its like in england, but here you have to buy something to sit" totally ignoring the 10 + grams we just bought

They didn't have the Umma Gumma when they first took over and a lot of people moaned so I reckon they just named a moroccan to keep us fans quiet.

Was Richard the Bald geezer who owned the autographed Van Basten shirt that hung on the wall above the dealer booth Boner?

If so, I had a great chat with him one day about all things Ajax, over some Tasty Mothers finest. Top Bloke.
Never had the chance to sample the Dirty Jack though. I bought my first ever Bag of Northern Lights from there, first 5gram bag too!
I remember buying a weed called GrizzlyWhizzly from there too, never seen it anywhere else since.
Ummagumma, top-tits, and a hash called Mocalve ( or something similar ) round up all my purchases from the 'ol Pink Floyd...........R.I.P

No he was cool though as he had a bulldog, Richard was tall and quite thin, he went off for a while to be a painter & decorator only to return, top guy, tbh all the staff were top people even the fat Scottish guy that worked there for a while. ;)

I was laughing at this in the coffeeshop the other day because all sorts of people were being carded.

When I asked it was explained this way..

Everyone is supposed to carry ID on you at all times in The Netherlands, so if you get stopped you can prove who you are. This is a legal requirement.

In some coffeeshops, they will ask people who look upto 25 for ID as a matter of course, but during the summer months, also tend to ask people at random, no matter how old. If the police come into a coffeeshop, and you are unable to produce ID, the coffeeshop gets in trouble as well as you, regardless of how old you are.

I've seen people in their 40's thrown out of coffeeshops for not having ID.

Not all coffeeshops are this intensive, but all the coffeeshops have picked up their ID checks now the tourist season has started :)

Just make sure you have ID, and as long as you are over 18 (that is the age limit) then you can get in. :)

Of course he kicked you, you didn't buy a drink, if you wanna sit down in a CS, then get a drink, standard... get a few coins out n' get a milkshake or a hot chocolate , they are so tasty in the dampkring

yeah well like i said we bought over €100 of smoke, which the waitress saw us doing, then she chased us upstairs shouting about drinks

besides we had been sat in greenhouse, which is known for being a commercial coffeeshop, for over an hour without buying weed

Smokedog,

You don't need to buy weed to stay in a CS, and if they tell you otherwise they are greedy tourists trap. You can go there, have a coffee and smoke your own, just like you did in the green house.
But when you do buy smoke in a Coffeeshop, no matter how much weed you getting, if you want to stay and smoke then you got 2 buy a drink, if you don't, then don't moan if you are ask to leave the place.
And if you spend 100 euros on smokes, I don't see why spending another few quids for drink is a problem...
Peace

I can't believe you find it normal to stay in a Coffeeshop, sit down to smoke and not ordering a drink. And then complaining coz you've been told to get a drink or leave....imagine if all the tourists were like you,....
