DAY 2 (TUESDAY)

Post by Doog »

I have to say that Tuesday was a bit of a disaster. Started off well enough with a trip to Pink Floyd for 2G Umma Gumma and I sat down to fire up a joint.

Nice happy high. Came close to laughing fits.

On the way back, this lil junkie guy comes up and basically starts asking all the questions and constantly trying to get me to go in to one of the backstreets. I give him 20 Euros to get him off my back. I know I shoulda been stronger and not given in.

I decided at that point that I would not be doing any sight seeing as those areas would also be popular for tourists (and junkies). I'd just find my way around a few of the streets around my hotel and stick to those.

A couple of beers after that to calm me down before I head to Sensi for a hook up with Neuro and his wife. We proceed quickly to Greenhouse Centrum and sit down for a beer and a smoke. I had a lil mix joint of the silver pearl and I smoked it myself since Neuro and his wife only smoked pure.

The beer/silver pearl effect struck again and I was sitting at the table with Neuro and his wife just staring into space with nothing to say.

Neuro and his wife rightly left soon after. This was the last day of their holiday and they had taken the time out to come and meet me and I just ended up mashed. I AM SO SORRY NEURO.

I decided that the best thing to do would be to return to the hotel for a siesta, which I did. Got up and spent the evening on a bar crawl(no smoking).

Just a quick tip doog if you're feeling out of it...... Lower the beer intake... at least till you've had a smoke or two.... also..... whenever you're feeling a bit to "out of it" sugar, sugar, sugar...... Mars Bars, Coke.... and especially the old Fresh OJ..... Vitamin C also helps level you out.

Any sort of food helps the higher carb the better!

Sorry to hear about your junkie experience Doog. Unfortunately it's quite rife in cities the world over. As Boner says, just keep on walking and let them hassle the next passer by instead.

It's a very good tip from DrGonzo about the sugar, especially the Orange juice, I figure thats why they sell so much of it over there, if you feel yourself getting too "stoned" a glass of OJ will bring you right back. It's a terrible feeling when you want to get up and go but your mind/body are totally out of sync, a quick glug of OJ and within 5 mins your'e off to do it all over again at the next coffeeshop

Have a great day, I believe the weather has Brightened up a bit so make the most of it, it's not stopped pissing down here since you left.

Doog I am somewhat disappointed. All those coffeeshops and you went on a pub crawl last night...
Just a suggestion from my own years of experience: I have found drinking first and then smoking tends to have ill effects for me, probably since I can handle quite a few drinks on their own without smoking and I would be far over the limit by the time I smoke. Smoking first and waiting to mellow out leaves me bone dry so a cold beer tastes absolutely refreshing and I find myself drinking strictly for that reason. So my advice which I heed myself, smoke first and drink later (if at all).
And definitely keep that blood sugar up, a crash can be prevented or recovered from quickly if you sweeten yourself up.

Do have fun, even if you do get too smashed to remember.

My thoughts excactly... since you are in toker's Utopia.

Also shame about the dirty lowlife scratbag ! as others have said, walk on and make sure you have NO eye contact, once you have eye contact the ice has been broken. (I tend to frighten them off with my bonehead  )

Doog, just take every day/hour/moment as it comes. You made it clear before you went how much you prepared for this, please dont think you are letting us (the forum) down in anyway by reporting back with something other than an epic full of smoking untold amounts of bud and all the rest of it.

Focus on your holiday, do what you wanna do, enjoy it... but keep us posted too because we're lovin' it !

Enjoy,
Rez

PS: dont feel embaressed about getting fucked-up on your smoke... anybody worth meeting with would know excactly what you was going through as we all been there... it's cool man, chill...

doog,

this begger. was it that little swine that looks like kurt cobain? i cant stand that bloke. he's been at it for years. all those other beggers, i can just tell them to fuck off, but that bloke winds me up.
heres a tip, wrap some tiny pieces of candle wax in cellophane from your cig packet, if you get it right they will look just like little rocks of crack. as soon as one of the junkie bastards approaches you throw some pseudo rocks on the floor and take advantage of your junkies scramble for free crack to kick him smartly in the side of the head and leave. if you are brave you could go through his pockets and rob him, which would be poetic at least.
enjoy your holiday, don't drink so much.

also, thanks for reporting its good of you to bother.

Doog,

Them junkies are a fucking pain in the arse, just ignore them.

Although is easy for me to say, a bit different when you're on your own, stoned and in a foreign city - at the time 20 euros can feel like a small price to pay to get the little c*nt out of your face. Dont beat yourself up over it and, more importantly, dont let it have an adverse effect on your trip mate!!!!

On a happier note it sounds like the Umma Gumma comes with your recommendation :D

Doog, nice report. To bad about that lowlife that hassled you, but that's life. At least your were honest enough to tell us about it. You could have just blown it off and not said a thing, way to GO!! Now get out there and smoke some more weed, visit more coffeeshops, enjoy yourself. Thanks for keeping us updated. Look forward to your daily reports. GO DOOG.

don't feel too bad doog you're not the first person to pay a junkie to fuck off, if it wasn't an earner for them they wouldn't waste their time in the first place.

So..hows that list? Ticked all the strains off yet?!?

Day 3

Post by Doog »

Thanks for all the support. I have now actually managed to find a good balance between the beer and the smoke so that I can enjoy both and still be able to make it back to my hotel.

I was now 100% sure that I would not be doing any sight seeing on my trip (crime prevention) or attending any more meetings with ACD members (embarrassment/waste of time for other members prevention).

BB420 I know I was supposed to meet you at the Dampkring but I've retreated back in to my shell a bit now and don't really wanna be going places where I don't have to go.

Day 3 (Wednesday) was a triumphant return to form on what was another fine dry day.

The mornings are turning into a sort of ritual now where I'm always doing the same things in the same order (brekfast, newspaper, internet, chill a bit)

The afternoons and evenings are when things really kick off.

I had stumbled across the NES coffeeshop on the Tuesday and I thought it was worth another visit as it is so ridiculously close to my hotel.

Went in for 2G of the Cherry Bomb I had heard so much about. Nice smell and looked good so all I had to do now was smoke it. After preparing to empty my sack of the rolling machine and papers, I found out that I had left them at the hotel. I didn't go back to get them as any time I tried to leave, I heard a voice coming from the Gulpener beer tap telling me to stay for another beer.

Day 3 ended with absolutely no cherry bomb smoked, at least half of the 5g Silver Pearl still left, the Umma Gumma also hardly touched and I also realised now that Neuro had left me a little going away present (about 2g of Grey Mist Crystals and maybe about the same of some other weed that I can't remember the name of.

I was gonna have to get into some serious smoking. I still have four days left but there was still one more shop I definitely wanted to stop in at and by from.

I second what AzLaker said: You told us even the unpleasant part Doog. That's great - it's part of the story too. We're there with you, man.

I remember my first trip to Amsterdam (not that this is your first)- everything went wrong: it was a windy, rainy, cold April weekend in 1990. I had no map, I was sleeping at the Christian Youth Hostel in the Jordaan because it was the cheapest place for a bed. There must of been thirty bunk beds in the room I slept in.
The worst part of the trip was that after I finally stumbled into a coffeeshop after having a couple of Heinekens one morning, I bought my weed (the first I had smoked in years), rolled a joint and took a hit. The next thing I remember was waking up with my cheek on the table in vomit. I weakly asked for help from the budtender who helped me to the toilet and gave me a wet hand towel to wash off my face. And to top off the trip I got caught on the train back to Paris with two joints by the French customs agents on the train. I didn't go back to Amsterdam for ten years.

Well done dude 4 telling that story and 2 doog as well 4 being honest about the downside of his trip. Sometimes when I`m over in the dam the beggers and junkies get 2 me a bit. I remember my last trip one begger continyally harrassed us which pissed me off and I ended up spending the afternoon alone smoking in my hotel room while my brother went to 6 coffeeshops, now he keeps bragging that he`s been 2 more shops than me lol. Its good that people can write about the not so nice things in the dam so any dam virgins can know what 2 expect. Doog stay safe dude and when ur walking around town walk where theres lots of people and try and avoid going down any allways and lonly back streets.
