Planning my trip!

Post by Jointman69 »

Please wish me luck everyone, I have a job interview tomorrow and if all goes well I will be able to make it to the mecca.

I have been thinking about it for weeks now. Got it all planned out.

Get Job (Don't worry, I'm not a bum!)
Then I hit up the bank for a nice loan.
Work my ass off until January and then after the trip. Yeah I know I said 420 or the cup but the Wife and I don't like crowds too much and want to miss the rush.
It will be our first time in the Dam and her first time out of the country.
Do a few touristy things to satisfy her...THEN...smoke...like there's no tomorrow.
Planning on staying in the centrum. Hotel hasn't been booked yet. I've looked at all the recommendations on here of course. Looking at all the obvious places! We need a private en suite double (Safe, smoker friendly, and NICE cause my darling is a bit picky!) so if you see something please give me a shout. Looking to spend like 800$ or less. Dates are somewhere between Christmas and the 8th of Jan. FlybyNite I will lock it down as soon as I get this Job tomorrow!

So on to the questions, I need some help, it being our first visit and all :)

What is a good tip for budtenders, bartenders and waiters (in euros)?

What are the best tourist attractions in your opinions (the wise who I have come to trust over all the reading)?

Best coffeeshop to smoke blunts (which new tobacco room is nicest, etc)?

Are the wares cheap? Should I buy a new grinder and little bong here or are they inexpensive there?

What are some great souvenir shops that are less expensive?

The Mrs. and I don't believe in sharing joints outside of us, but would gladly hand you a bag and papers to roll your own. Will people be offended?

I will of course do extensive note taking because I have been a connoisseur for many years now. Probably won't do the live thing because I'll be too high to work a computer but I will right an epic Odyssey of a trip report. So, in summation, I thank you for all of your help (and the great trip reports and advice) and look forward to hearing from you and possibly meeting you.

within the website that FlyByNite mentions there is an important document by S G Collins entitled How not to get hit by a bike

imho for your own safety this is an absolutely essential document to read before you arrive in amsterdam as a first time visitor, the traffic comes at you from all around and you need eyes in the back of your head and is a challenge even when unstoned and a nightmare when stoned, so please please read ... and thanks

the document is only 4 pages so should be easy to print and read at your leisure

this topic about tipping is recent

well, in my opinion, the way to approach the subject of visiting tourist attractions in amsterdam is to ask yourselves "What am I really really interested in?"

whatever it is amsterdam will have something to visit to suit that particular interest and it will be fantastic

and the subject of interest can be fairly obscure and somewhere in amsterdam you will find it

yes cheap and easily available

i like looking in the old indian shop on Kloveniersburgwal, but there are shops with pipes and bongs everywhere in the centrum

here is the link to a recent acd topic on grinders

i would not be offended, probably would be relieved not to be handed joints i knew nothing about from people i did not know

well SS67, God Bless you and everyone else who read my thread and wished me luck. I got the JOB!! I almost tackled the nice little manager lady I was so excited.

Thank you for all of your answers and links, much appreciated! I have read bits and pieces of the safety article but I plan on giving it the old thrice over before I leave.

Fly-by-nite,
Good sir, If you could pencil me in on your calender for the dates January 1st - January 6th, 2010!
