i was actually thinking about a

scale in some form of lock up

Good idea.

Cos i wud rather not spend 20euro a scale.

But id like to know am not getting ripped off which wud prob add up to more than 20euro worth of ripping off over several days.

Whats the cheapest u can get a set for in Amsterdam?
Just to weight upto 5g - 6g.

Then u know on the spot if the place cares about the customer, and shall no spend time buying drinks there.

Honest caring places am after.
So weary about pre weight bags.
Any places to be trusted that have pre weight bags?

Wikihow to make homemade scales.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

* Light cardboard, Scissors, Ruler, Glue, Pencil, Coins.

Step 1

• Cut out two 3-by-3 inch squares of cardboard. These will be the trays to hold the items being weighed and the counterweight. Each square must be of equal size. •

Step 2

• Place one square on each end of the ruler. Use the side of the ruler with measurements displayed. Line the squares up evenly and glue in place. Allow the glue to dry thoroughly. •

Step 3

• Place the ruler on top of the pencil. Use the measurement markings on the ruler to ensure the pencil is directly in the middle. Balance the ruler on the pencil. If one side is heavier, trim the cardboard until the scales are balanced. •

Step 4

• Place a coin one on tray and the item you're weighing on the other. Calculate the weight by placing coins on one end until the scales balance. Once the scales are balanced, the weight of the object is equal to the weight of the coins. •

Step 5

• Achieve a specific weight by using a coin or coins equal to the amount of weight you need. Multiply the weight of the coin by 6 inches. Divide this figure by 5. The quotient will tell you where to place the coin on the ruler. If you use a nickel, your answer would be 4.8 and you would place the coin on the 4.8 inch mark on the ruler. •

Step 6

• Add the substance to the tray on the other side of the ruler until the scale is balanced. Now you have 5 g (or whatever weight you used) of the substance. Use this method to weigh herbs, spices, powders, or any other lightweight item you need to measure. •

A 1 pence piece weighs 3.6 grams, a 2 pence piece weighs 7.2 grams, a fresh Benson & Hedges ciggarette weighs 1 gram. ;)

Puffin, even if this was your wife's favorite shop, I'd recommend watching the dealers with other folks. If, at some future point, they short others in the same way, then I'd never return and I'd tell the shop-owner why.

This shorting could just be limited to that one dealer. He could be doing it so he can scoop up some free buds. 3x0.71 = 2.13 grams, from that one group of tourists, alone. (Imagine how much freebud he would get if he did that with all the customers.)

I totally agree with you IG. That was the main reason why I related my experience on the forum; so people can watch out for the dealers and pay attention to them when they are weighing out your purchase. It was the dealer riping people off, not the coffeeshop; which is why I didnt name the coffeeshop in the post. I do believe, like you, that the shorting could just be limited to the one dealer, in the one shop, as I have not observed this before. Peace.

Puffin13 wrote:My wife and I went to her favorite coffeeshop, over the weekend. As she found us a seat I waited in line, to buy weed, with 3 male tourists in front of me. I usually watch dealers and how they weigh the herb. The 3 guys in front of me each ordered 3 grams. I watched the dealer take the plastic container from the scales and the digital display read -41.86, once the container was removed. He put the container back on the scales and the display read 0.71, then he quickly proceeded to add the weed to the container, and weigh out the 3 grams. I watched him do this for each one of the 3 customers. The tourists paid no attention to what the dealer was doing. If only 1 gram had been ordered, I'm sure these tourists would have noticed the difference.

When it was my turn to be served, I watched him try and do the same thing to me. I asked him to zero it out after he put the container on the scales. He just looked at me kinda funny and zeroed it out.

My point is, watch those dealers when they are weighing your purchase! I dont know if what I witnessed was accidental or not. I tend to think not by the way he looked at me. Be careful out there! :D Peace.

(I purposely did not give the name of the shop cause I think this could happen anytime, anyplace; by accident or not)

Hey puffin thanks for that buddy,Ive got a story myself while in hunters coffeeshop (Warmoesstraat) back in 2007,I to waited in line & when it was my turn i choose some caramelo (i think) & the guy behind the counter was like naa you want this black as its better & so on,& to cut a long story short i took him up on his recomendation & i could have sworn it was the same stuff i had held & smelt in the 1st place??? lol,Maybe i could be wrong but i had a funny feeling about that guy & to think i left him a tip after him shorting me out of 2 euros pisses me off frankly,& to add insult to injury he had the brass kneck to beg a cigarette of me like 10 mins later! lol some people.

turdhead wrote:How much for a cheap set of scales ?

Cheaper the better.

As i would like to weight my bag just before accepting the weed.

Call it cheeky, but i call it a matter of trust, if its spot on, then the guy won't have a problem.

Like the lad above said, shitholes who try this do need be named n shamed, is disgraceful.

Some places like the de rockerij (singel) have a small digital display that can be clearly seen by the customer,A nice touch me thinks 8),Ps turdhead ive been going to the nederlands for nearly 10 years now & when i 1st went it was a bit mad in a good sort of way with coffeeshops everywhere & not to mension the windows ,But on the other hand it wasnt all that mad that people (tourists & locals alike) didnt speak up for themselves when they saw a deal was light or if some dealer dropped you bag "accidentally" on the floor,In fact ive personaly seen locals in the "Q" saying stuff in dutch to dealers who try & say there average weed is superb to dumb tourists or if there deal was short,Not so much now it seems but hey life goes on 8).

Thanks for relating your experience with us too, Kingdoc. It seems that dealers have quite an arsenal when it comes to ripping off customers. I related the story I posted here to some of the locals; some of them dealers themselves. One guy said another trick he has seen used on unsuspecting people is to stick a bit of flattened hash to the bottom of the weighing container. GEEZ! I mean...how desperate and low down can some people be!? What a world, huh? :( Peace n Love.
