La Tertulia has been one of my favourite coffeeshops for over two decades.
It's an interesting building, being triangular in shape. That's because it's on the border between the grand canals of the Grachtengordel and the quaint Jordaan. The canals and streets of the Jordaan have a different orientation to the grand canals and this building is squeezed into one of the triangular spaces formed at the join.
Inside there are three different levels. You enter past a little indoor garden. The kitchen and counter are on a lower level and most of the seating is on an upper level.
These photos are in chronological order but, as you can see, it hasn't changed much over the years. The garden has evolved a bit but it's still the same wonderful little place it's always been.
