I went in on Friday night for a bit,
since my usual spot was rammed with people I though I would wait for it to calm down.
I don't normally go to many bars, serving alcohol.
I don't drink anymore.

I had chat with the girl at the bar about the whole smoking ban off/on thing, something about the mayor wanting to change things and a general crackdown on fun. I forget some of it.
I think she preferred it in the "old days"

It was the same girl working there when I went for the first time last year.

It is a bit of a tourist trap now, it has the name and location.

5 euro for a chocomel.
You pay for the experience I guess.

Sitting in a dark pub, smoking weed, getting paranoid and leaving abruptly.
Just like back in 6th form, without the snakebite.

Music is quite loud for me now. really heavy drum n bass
10 years ago I would have enjoyed it a bit more (and I used to DJ drum n bass)

Finally returning after almost 2 years! However I am hearing through the grapevine HSB (and all RLD smoking bars - Batavia, Excalibur, Stones etc) are no longer allowing smoking of any form?

One of my favourite spots to chill over the years. Was open every day in October but seemed to have changed hands. Charged me 5 euros for a cold chocomel... Nearly choked on my spliff and didn't go back.

Must have opened in the last few days it was definitely shut down during my visit unless they are operating restricted hours ofc

They reopened at the end of last year, and then quickly got kicked down by reimposed corona restrictions.

Once all those were lifted, they announced they'd still be (re)opened up and daily at that. But so far it's only been open on/around weekends in practice.

Most of the Horeca sector is still left with that lockdown hangover and bars and restaurants in particular have limited hours and opening days compared to pre-pandemic days.

Coffeeshops are a glaring exception because they were always able to keep a steady revenue stream with buy-and-fly (and of course some nice laundered funds from that strong organized criminal element that pervades them, but that's a whole other topic)...

Anyway that's my novel...It was a pretty good story. Don't you think? It made me laugh to beat the band. Parts, anyway. I didn't like seein' Donny go. But, then I happen to know that there's a little Lebowski on the way. I guess that's the way the whole durned human comedy keeps perpetuatin' itself down through the generations.
