Re: Funky Chickin is a no compromise smokers paradise.
It's costing €440 for 2 people for 4 nights (€220 each) €440 each for 4 nights might just be okay. I just emailed the owner and he wants €600 for 4 nights (€300 each). And this isn't for a summer trip but this November . Either November is very busy in Amsterdam or I caught him on a greedy d...

Re: what film(s) are u watching
Just downloaded and watched the Adywan cut of Star Wars. For me the definitive cut. Can't wait for him to finish Empire.
TV wise it's Season 3 of The Walking Dead and Season 3.5 of Spartacus.

A Sharpie, to write on the bags so I know what's what ;) Wow a sharpie over here is so different to a pen? Most pens don't write on plastic bags, and "Sharpie" is less to type than "felt-tipped permanent marker". They're also part of US popular culture, heavily advertised, refer...

Thanks.
That's very handy, Voyager is adjacent to where I'm staying. Will be certain to check it/them out.

Re: First trip to Amsterdam. 22 March - 25 March.
My greatest advice would be to avoid the huge and obvious draw of the "Grasshopper" which you can clearly see on your left as you walk away from Central Station.
Just about any other coffeeshop in Amsterdam is better.

Re: Barney's Breakfast Bar
Been to Barney's many time, often after an all-nighter rave somewhere. Get a fixer-upper breakfast and some nice (but never amazing) weed. But yes, very busy. As to the "too many loud Americans". LOL yes, but met some really interesting ones there. My favourite were a couple, an East Coast...

Re: What is in your must have Amsterdam travel kit?
I know my hotel room doesn't have tea & coffee facilities, so a small travel kettle with individual packets of both ordinary coffee and latte. I NEED my caffeine, especially if I'm smoking in/near my hotel. It's only 0.4 litres but that's enough. Earplugs . This are also one of the best things y...

Best/good places for a nice fragrant Sativa?
Hey Going on Wednesday. In Den Haag the place was awash with Indica, but Sativa was as rare as hens teeth, only Koffie en Dromen ever had any on a regular basis. And it was lovely, not quite as aggressively, bodily strong as the Indicas, but fragrant intellectual high. Is decent Sativa allwhere and ...

Re: Walking on LSD to get my legs ready for Amsterdam
I know what you mean. One of the most amazing, intimidating experiences I had in the Netherlands was trying to find my bicycle in a mass of hundreds, possibly thousands, whilst tripping on shrooms. This trip I'm talking a reasonable pair of walking boots, a nice pair of Karrimor. Thick soles, good g...

Re: Bushdocter
When I was living in The Hague, and smoking the likes of grams of Power Plant every day, I'd go to Bushdoctor for their ICE hash as it was the only stuff that could knock me off my feet.
Very expensive, but ZOMFG that stuff's strong.

Re: Coffeeshop Reactions over time
My best and worst reaction was to exactly the same coffeeshop, THE SAINT. I went there on my first trip to Amsterdam in the mid 90s. It was dark and cozy; run by a wizend old Moroccan with a beautiful young black girl serving. I toured the city during the day looking at other coffeeshops, but nothin...

Floris France Hotel, Central Amsterdam
FLORIS FRANCE Hotel, Oudezijds Kolk 11, Amsterdam, (Opposite Central Station, adjacent to Red Light District) Next to Molly Malones if you're familiar with that Guinness-soaked pub. Have this place booked for two nights later this week. Looks a little basic, dozens of reviews say the WI-FI never wo...

Hi from Scotland
Hey I'm in Glasgow now but lived in Den Haag (The Hague) for three years in the early 00s. Aside from that spell out there have had loads of trips to Amsterdam either side of it, and a few to other places in The Netherlands. No place/room to grow at home so always looking forward to my next Easyjoin...
