Lovely idea and very kind. I always hire a bike, so much easier getting around.
Massive Props to you.

Re: Arrival rituals
I have only one bag, a backpack, so it's not an encumberance to take it around with before settling in. Picasso is a solid choice as Jay's Juices is nearby. Do Picasso still serve free breakfast? I have not been in a while. I spoke to Jay a couple of weeks ago and he is seriously thinking about sel...

Re: Arrival rituals
After getting through the airport, the train ride, and into Central Station, my first order of business is to get to our rental place and drop off our bags ASAP. That way, for me at least, that first trip to a coffeeshop is completely free of care or responsibility. Just the ability to completely r...

Completely agree. Laughing buddah always had us in fits.
Or, perhaps as it's in the name, did we make it sure it was so?

Re: Arrival rituals
I always get into town 8/9am. Touting Has always been: Land, Run/fast dad walk through customs and into arrivals as quickly as I can. Buy return tickets to centraal. Run/fast dad walk through and exit station. Stop and brother in that first sight and smells of Amsterdam proper. Previously, Straight ...

Really enjoying your adventures. Purple haze is a fave of mine. Looking forward to your thoughts on the bit you picked up at Mr K's. I also really liked that place in its former Sanementereng guise. Looks a bit more 'cool' now from pics I've seen ?

Mixed Feelings for my March trip
My lovely wife booked me flights as a Christmas gift as instructed so all booked in for 2nd - 6th March. Trip 28 I believe. Upon telling a good friend who lives in Amsterdam, and I'd not heard from for a few months he advised me he'd be looking forward to hooking up. However, he'd had a bad few mont...

Re: 2nd trip but solo.
Don't worry about being on your own. I've went 10 times with mates, wife etc etc! now been a further 15 odd flying solo. Selfishly it's much more fun. You don't have to worry about making sure everyone is happy. Just do as you please. Restaurants and eating on your own...again not an issue. You alwa...

Re: Attempt at live reporting
Massive fail. First shop I went to was Picasso. I started to update and battery died on phone. Went and left phone at apartment to charge and went off to 137. Forgot phone till the evening. I will write a proper report but as a first smoke of the trip, I got super silver from Picasso. It was €12 I b...

Attempt at live reporting
So it's 0530 and I'm sat in Pret, in Luton airport. Always arrive too early worried there could be a crash on m25 or that it's snarled as always. Not to be so was here at 0445. Only 30 mins from Barnet. Anyway, I'll attempt to report live as I never get round to submitting a travelogue. Here goes no...

Exactly one week. This time next week I hope to have got my first ever purchase from Central then along to Picasso for my first espresso. Then apartment, bike and explore once again.
