Re: Trip #1 - Maiden Voyage - Feb 19-26

Excellent trip report so far mate.
Some trip reports are just dull lists of what was smoked. Your report lists strains smoked but as part of a well written and interesting story.
Very much looking forward to the next part.

Re: Looza fruit juices

Albert Heijn supermarkets sell their own version of Looza. Tastes almost exactly the same in my opinion, although they don't have the same range of flavours. Dirk supermarkets probably do their own version of Looza too. You can't beat drinking a Looza in a coffeeshop though. A bottle of Pear, Peach ...

Re: cant find a coffeeshop, anyone know it?

Rijnstraat becomes van Woustraat once you cross Amstelkade heading towards the city centre. There are three coffeeshops on van Woustraat called Blue Sea, de Keeper and Warda 1. Could it be one of those?

Re: Justice Minister Ivo: "Drug tourists need somewhere else

Germany provides the greatest proportion of tourists visiting The Netherlands, closely followed by the UK. Germany and Britain provide almost 50% of all visitors to The Netherlands. The US is third highest in proportion of visitors, then Belgium in fourth and France is fifth.

Re: Safety

Just backing up what others are saying. In comparison to cities in the UK and US then Amsterdam is extremely safe. Violent crime against the public is relatively low and there aren't any real no-go areas. As for street hustlers, compared to the situation in the 1990s, the Red Light District has been...

Re: Roadtrippin with Rufus: Antics, Whities, Fun & Injuries.

Just read all the way through your Amsterdam travelogue and it's one of the better ones that I've read. Some just turn into a list of cannabis purchased without any story. But, yours is well written with good humour and plays out like a short story that's interesting throughout. It was a pleasure re...

Re: Coffeeshops with cats

Indeed he/she is!! I found this clip on You Tube - same cat as I saw (though shown as Bowie on the video). Looking a little fatter right now  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sfjDovTDle8 You may very well be right and his(don't know if it's male or female) name may be Bowie. I was told it was '...

Re: best cs for the older smoker?

4:20 (de Kuil) seems to be the coffeeshop of choice for the older smoker. Whereas most coffeeshops in Centrum seem to have a mixture of customers, every time I've been to 4:20 in the last seventeen years it's seemed to have mainly been frequented by a 40+ year old smokers. I think the classic rock s...

The recommendations for Homegrown Fantasy are spot on. It's the perfect mellow place for your first coffeeshop visit. Pleasant surroundings and the toilets are something else (don't want to give away the surprise).

Re: Central

I've been visiting Central for 10 years+ and I'm 99% certain that it's been pretty much as it is now all that time. If there was an upstairs seating area and pool tables, it was a long time ago. My guess is that it did have the upstairs seating and pool tables in the early days, or under different o...

Re: NH Amsterdam Centre

If it is the place right by the flower market some of the rooms are a little shabby by normal 4 star standards but if you get the right price on priceline bidding etc who cares! You can smoke to your hearts content in the rooms and the location is excellent for loads of coffeeshops within staggerin...

Re: Favorite stretch of canal?

There's a stretch of Prinsengracht that's so achingly lovely of an evening that it makes your heart leap. If you stand on the bridge crossing Leidsegract on the north side of Prinsengracht facing south, looking down Leidsegracht, you can see the bright lights of Leidsestraat to your left with the oc...

Hi, no i'm not getting confused. I just checked all my documentation and it's the NH Amsterdam Centre :P Sorry for the confusion , my post wasn't really aimed at you. It was mentioned by somebody that they stayed in a shabby room at the Amsterdam Centre. I've stayed at the nh Amsterdam Centre a few...
