Re: Destination: Amsterdam

Thank you, LJ, for the fine travelogue. It is a travelogue in its truest and best form: It intimately describes *an individual* in the context of a new place.

Keep up the tale, if there's any more to tell.

happydaze777: I had written off Samementereng as a novelty. I am glad to hear there's something to it. One more thing: I always feel obligated to de-bunk the concept of bag appeal. Appearance is a poor indication of quality, I say. Props to you for recommending smoke that happened to be old and twig...

balou1999: Thanks for the input. I don't know how I've managed to miss Black Star , considering all the time I waste browsing ACD. I am always up for a new source of Durban Poison. Black Star, judging from what others have said, offers it.

Pauli W.: What do you make of Senementereng's imports?

westerkerk: Thanks for the tip! I think I may have to follow it. Het Ballonnetje is often cited (favorably) on these boards as a locals' joint. I should listen to your advice along with everyone else's and just go there.

Marco: When I think of Moroccan coffeeshops, I think of hash. Do you know of any Moroccan coffeeshops that sell good weed -- *good* weed which is billed as African, Moroccan ... or otherwise?

Your favorite 'locals' coffeeshop?

It's an ambiguous question, and I know it. I guess I'd like to hear about coffeeshops that a) attract a consistently local clientèle, indicating that the product is good or b) are just off the beaten track and special to you. Extra points to respondents who can recommend shops that appeal to patrons...

Bump. I appreciate the thread you've started, smokseyj. There's probably a reason why we find WW, AK-47, Herer and Orange Bud at so many local shops, why these varieties have stuck around so long. And I've never (knowingly) tried any of these strains. Goes to show how much I've been sucked into the ...

… and a few passing thoughts on the shops: Anyday – Feels like a cosmetics boutique inside – the vibe was a tasteful shade of white. 'Tenders were professional and courteous. The Durban Poison was good, like a sunset is good. Barentsz – Home of the apocalyptic Silver Pearl. A tidy place in a tidy ne...
