Membership at Amsterdam- East coffeeshops
In preparation for my stay at Camping Zeeburg, I was looking at the nearby coffeeshops, specifically Best Friends and Warda II. In the reviews, they mention that you need to be a member in order to smoke in the lounge; otherwise, it's buy and fly only. Does anyone have any idea on what membership en...

Re: Exceptional Locations
Keep in mind Amsterdam's not really a "great view" kind of city: there are no sky-scrapers in the center and the whole place is as flat as a bowling lane. I can't think of any coffeeshops or bars that were on the top floor of the buildings. If you go to the North, there are a bunch of cafe...

A Newcomer's Guide to Amsterdam Restaurants
So I hope I'm not being presumptuous here by starting this thread. I noticed that there isn't any stickied introductory thread or information here in the Food forum, so I figured it would be useful, especially for newcomers, to have a one-stop list of recommended food options. There's a lot of good ...

Re: Tolerance
Yeah, tolerance is a bitch. While taking a break will temporarily lower it, that's not a long-term solution: after resuming regular smoking, your tolerance will be back to normal quickly. You could take a 6 month break and the tolerance reduction will only last a couple of days. Switching between st...

Re: Early Morning Coffeeshops
According to the opening hours list I copied and pasted from the forum a while back, Voyagers opens 7am Thursday through Saturday and 8 am the rest of the week. At 7am, there's also Hunter's and Popeye's. If you can wait 'til 8, Picasso opens as well.

Re: Somewhere near Eindhoven for trip with no wietpass
Keep in mind that most of the Netherlands is within a relatively short distance of Eindhoven. I mean, Amsterdam is, what, an hour and a half away? Your closest bet, though, especially if you wanna be by the ocean, is Zuid Holland. There seems to be a bunch of smaller towns with at least one coffeesh...

Re: 1e Hulp Coffeeshop
Would you happen to know if these bongs usually include a carrying case? That makes it so much more convenient to haul from shop to shop and if they do, I'd wait to buy it there instead of getting it from some centrum tourist trap.Kermit wrote:Yeah they have them for sale, ideal Amsterdam basher for the price.

Where did you get the apartment from so we can avoid it? Having to wait an hour for the keys and listen to some asshole spout anti-semitic and homophobic trash is not how anyone should start their vacation.

Re: Club Media
The only thing I don't like about this place is the set-up: having to be buzzed through security gates is a little nerve-wracking and it can be awkward asking to enter if you're not planning on buying. Plus, sometimes there'll only be one person working both the pot counter and the drink bar so if y...

Re: Beginner questions for our first trip
Language shouldn't be a problem. If you get much farther out, you might find some coffeeshops where the budtender's English is rusty (and some immigrant-owned shops speak little English. Not a bash against them; learning Dutch is hard enough for a foreign-speaker.) As a first-timer though, you'll pr...

Re: Wietpas in Hoofddorp
Have just come back from South Holland. Got thrown out of coffee shops as soon as they knew I was a tourist, Couldn't even sit in and have a coffee! Loads of rip off drug dealers now all over the streets. Totally spoiling areas. Heard from someone who had just got back from Amsterdam that some plac...
