Re: LX - February 2022

Cheers folks - all booked up for mid-August now. Hotel Larende. 10 min walk to Funky Munkey. Can't wait for a full-on trip - fingers crossed no further complications arise. Flickr stopped me adding more pics some time ago - keep meaning to delete some other stuff and update the 'Dam pics. Literature...

LX - February 2022

On checking, this was my 60th trip to the 'Dam. Had I known that I may have made it more special. Was very last minute so had next to no time to plan/prepare. First attempt at trip repot. Thursday 10/02/2022 Pretty smooth process at Edinburgh airport. Had all my doc's and only took about 30 seconds ...

Re: Netherlands lockdown ending

Had booked for December '21 in March '21 thinking "it'll all be good by then". Would have tolerated the 7.30 lockdown, just to get away; but the 5/5.30 was too much so got a KLM voucher for later use. Hadn't paid for Hotel (Nadia). Saw the move to 10pm and the removal of quarantine for UK ...

Re: What´s youré Go To Asian Restaurant in Amsterdam

Asia's a big place...

I've been to Daarbaand a few times. About a 10 minute walk up Overtoom (away from Central) from Hotel Abba.

Re: Seafood

I've been here a few times now. Have had the Mixed Grill, Fritto Misto and Fruits de Mer. All tremendous. The Good Companion at the bottom of Westerstraat does an excellent Fish & Chips for a good price and I went to the new place kind of opposite Rookies (not sure what it's called) in December....

Re: first day off work for a month

Cracking report. Big fan of FM. How's the member's area? I like that the main floor is spacious/well aired. Dealer is really a really friendly bloke too. Has become my go-to hang-out when in town since Rookies got too busy for my tastes. While I'm on the subject, not a huge fan of the Rookies revamp...

Re: The story so far

Tried to reply b4 but a cat ate my post  Not been to central for over 20 years. It just always looks cramped even when empty. That bar is called London Bridge I think. Been there, once or twice. It is somewhere to smoke I suppose. Found It to a bit soulless. For world cup action though a soul...

Re: Abraxas Too (formerly Chocolata)

Big fan of this place. Great atmosphere, music frequently above average. Window seat over Spuistraat is sweet. Always seem to have space. not sure if they still have free wifi: my phone was playing up last time so may have been my own doing. And they have chocomel. http://www.flickr.com/photos/takei...

Re: Blues Brothers

Had always walked past this place until December, some Lemon chat on here drew me in.

Never again. Looked and felt like it hadn't been cleaned since the dawn of man. Dank atmosphere and unfriendly staff.

Re: Hotel Abba

Stayed here mid-December. 2 flights up, single room en-suite. Small but clean enough. Fine for crashing after a hard days strolling and stoning. Tram stops 1, 3 & 12 on your doorstep and an Albert Heijn right underneath for snacks. Was one of the rooms with a shared balcony at the back which was...

Apologies for my lack of clarity. My next trip won't be til July.

Still, relieved about that decision!
