That address is very close indeed to either Prinsengracht or Leidseplein stops on the 1,2 or 5 trams which all run from Centraal Stn. Cheap and a nice way to get into the Dam vibe?

Hate to point out the obvious.... The MTA site has a subway map including the Skytrain, LIRR at http://www.mta.info/nyct/maps/subwaymap.pdf

You can indeed get the LIRR to Jamaica Center or the subway to Jamaica/Sutphin Ave. (same place but underground)

I also recommend getting them at the VVV in Schipol if you're arriving that way. There's no queue there but usually quite a big one at the GVB office outside Centraal Stn.

Hmm.. dare I suggest this is strictly a local issue for Amsterdammers only. The wietpass was a tourist issue but this isn't. Long time lurker - new member. Am in my mid 40s and have going to the Dam frequently since 1990. Love the city itself much more than the CSs but do like a wee smoke on occasion.
