Re: Me Myself and I June 2018

I don't quite follow your comment about the signature. I'd been using "Only users lose drugs" for well over a year now, and had not noticed if you had been using the line. I originally got it from a wiseacre friend's bumper sticker from 10+ years ago. If you feel the need to use that as 'y...

de Wolf, Utrecht

ACD Page: de Wolf, Utrecht I'm wondering if anyone has been coffeeshopping in Utrecht recently, specifically at CS de Wolf. The last review listed here at ACD has it closed as of 2008, but the Google Maps streetview, dated 2018, shows it is open. The image on the directory listing here is of the bus...

Re: Me Myself and I June 2018

Wonderful trip report, Shaggy! It must be nice to reach A'dam on a flight that doesn't take 9+ hours! I found that Mokum is a most beautiful place to go on long stoney walks, but I also enjoyed the quicker access to remote locations via bicycle on my last 2 visits. Makes me wishfully think of my bac...

It's been several years since my last trip to A'dam, but Thai Bird Snackbar on Zeedijk was very tasty and reasonably priced. I hope that it's still a good place.

Re: At a High-End Amsterdam Restaurant, Gourmet Food and Vapes Sit Side-by-Side

That is too cool! Yet another thing to miss about visiting Amsterdam. I wonder, is the herb included in the menu pricing? If so, this could get really expensive. Not priced for the causal coffeeshop clientele, methinks.

This video gives a nice preview. https://youtu.be/WSBn2sbXWXw

Re: Newbie from Texas

Howdy, Jud and welcome to ACD. There's lots of good information to be found here. Sweet :) heard that the Austin area should be very progressive, but nice to hear that it is a statewide thing (at least to some of you)... Yes CC, Austin can be progressive, compared to the majority of the state, and b...

US Redneck Shindig Tonight @ Maloe Melo

If you have been looking for a dose of American hillbilly music and humor in Mokum, tonight ( Vrijdag, 21 October ) is the night! The Hickoids (from Texxxas) bring their brand of raw, nasty rock and country to Maloe Melo (Lijnbaansgracht 163) for one night only. Opening the show will be Amsterdam's ...

Re: My August Trip is Underway

Great report, twinkles. Your packing tips would've come in handy on my trips, which seemed to have always happened in Winter, and everything in my layering was cotton (or heavier.) Packing light was not an option that I exercised. Mentioning the guy who had never encountered the steep climb with hea...

My youngest daughter graduates from high school in 2026, so, 10 years and counting :( It will be very a long time before Texas softens it's cannabis laws, so maybe I'll sneak away to Colorado for a quick visit...

Re: What's the weather like?

Speaking of Baton Rouge (my birthplace, that I moved from 28+ years ago,) I definitely do NOT miss the early afternoon rain that lasted for 15-20 minutes, then became oppressively hot and humid. Multiple days of dry 100+ degree temperatures here in Austin, are downright bearable by comparison. My 4 ...

Re: Episode 4/20 - The Crispy Menace

Epic trip journal, OneHighMofo!! You seem to have that city well figured out. Sounds like, at times, your feet were giving you grief. I had similar problems before I rented a bicycle on my last trip to Mokum. There was a wonderful foot massage place on Zeedijk (or was it somewhere near Nieuwmarkt?) ...

I always ask my guy for the name or variety of combustible, as he knows that I really prefer sativa-leaning ganja. This last time, he presented me with "Raspberry Purple Cotton Candy Mango Hybrid" :eh: My taste buds are a bit confused, but, the effects are really nice.
