Update.....kind of

Post by Valo »

It's been a while but i haven't forgotten about this place...actually quite miss reading the updates and humour on the forum. But i finally have a pay as you go usb internet key...so don't feel so isolated in this town now.

I am still living in Hoofddorp, but am actually currently looking for places in Amsterdam so I am hoping the move wont be too long...then I can start looking for a job in the local area. Also still working at the airport, which is starting to kill me...hence the urgent need for a new job! But the buzz of living in Holland still gets me through work days :D

I don't think i have been online since i met up with Twitchaldinho quite a while back now it seems. Never got round to thanking him online for those t-bags!!! They were much appreciated and only just come to the end of them. Although my parents have been over since, so my supply has been replenished

I enjoyed the world cup over here (even though that seems so long ago too now!) and was lucky enough to see quite a few games in Amsterdam at the time....including the quarter final vs Brazil and the final....which were both great days out despite the loss against Spain.
I wanted to make it to the city for at least one of the gay pride street parties or canal parade last week, but work prevented any of that happening.

Smoke wise...my regular smoke is still very much the High Times special, from High Times in Haarlem. It is still blue cheese too, and one of the nicest smokes i have come across....one I can still function on and smoke daily.
They also have a very nice Diesel in, and i only just recently tried their ice hash (€15 per gram) which is a lovely smoked topped on a pipe of grass. Not quite knock out...but it's not one i would want to smoke before work! Overall i love this shop, very friendly staff and top quality weed...my only criticism would be that the weed isn't always trimmed as well as it could be, but that is me turning into a weed snob!!

When in Amsterdam...my first stop is always Anyday. 15% discount on 5g (you can even mix the strains which i didn't realise at first) is a good enough reason, but they have the friendliest staff I have come across in any coffeeshop and the weed is always top notch...especially the Amnesia!!!...hoping to pick some up later this evening :D

Well i think this post is long enough for my first one back....so i will just add some random pics below and read up on what i been missing out on the last few weeks.

Seems to be a lot of smoke coming off groups of people in Vondelpark!

Thanks for the messages everyone. Nice to see some familiar names as always...i actually find this board similar to Amsterdam itself - after the first post/toke it feels like you never left haha.

Firstly here is a pic of some Amnesia i bought in Anyday last night...

Image Image

...i bought that 3g of that and 2g of Bubblegum at a total cost of €41. I have to say that the BG is not as good as a couple of weeks ago, but the Amnesia seems to be constantly a near perfect smoke.

There is one coffeeshop in Hoofddorp called Superfly. It's only about 10-15 mins walk from my house too...but it's an awful shop! Amsterdam prices, poor quality weed and very unfriendly staff. The only thing nice about it is the decor....but why they have tables and chairs in there is beyond me as they clearly don't seem to want people to stay there.

Largely because i can't remember the last time i woke up without a back ache from lifting boxes.

My agency screwed me over slightly though as i origainally had a food and beverage job and was only supposed to work in cargo until they finalised a start date for the other job. But they soon realised i was a good worker and hired other people for the food job....without telling me anything....and when i kicked up a bit of a fuss, they pretty much said take it or leave it. So i don't have much love for the company in general to be honest.

I could fill a whole thread on how bad my job is! Though i try not to let it bother me...but the hours and shift patterns are not well organised and there is no set rota, so we get our shift texted to us via mobile the day before. So i know tomorrows shift (a bloody midnight start!), but wont find out if i am working on wednesday until tomorrow....and even then, if the flight is delayed then it could all change.
So its a good job if you want to work all the time and save money. But it really sucks if you actually want a social life and enjoy general time to relax.

That wasn't a rant....just the facts about my job...but most of the facts are pretty miserable haha :)

The good points are that it is pretty well paid, I have a dutch bank account and sofi number set up, and i don't have to worry about bills or rent as they are taken out of my wage. So if you look at it as a nice footstep into the country then it doesn't get you down so much.

I feel you mate, I worked for a similar agency but they were even less organised, and often txted just a couple of hours before work... I'm sure some of the lads who are now working for your place have told you about it. Despite the shit job I found the quality of life in Holland in general to be much better than in the UK, not only because of the constant supply of weed, and I long to go back to work over there but now I have a secure job over here it's been put off for now :( oh well only a couple of weeks then I have at 5 days in paradise at least :)

jesus, that agency dealio sounds hellish, you have my sympathies. But yes, at least you have a job over there and a foothold in he country. I'm just now putting out first tentative feelers applying for admin jobs around holland but without an address, so-fi or anything i have a feeling i'm gonna have a hard time..
NICE PIX- keep us updated on your adventures! :D 8) it's worth it, hang in there!
