The dream is true....

Post by Valo »

Never have these words by Bruce Dickinson been so true!!.....

After a long application process, I was asked to an interview this past monday and have been offered a job in Amsterdam!!! Schiphol Airport to be exact. I applied back at the start of February and had to wait 10 weeks for a security check to be cleared before finding out any more information.

As of monday they couldn't give me a start date (just saying June), although yesterday I got a call saying they can put me in another department until my vacancy actually begins in order to get me out and started quicker.....asking if I could start NEXT TUESDAY!!!

So i have been arranged a coach on sunday evening, arriving on monday morning where I have to meet someone at the airport who will introduce me around and take me to my accommodation they have arranged for me (somewhere in Amstelveen).
The initial contract was for 3 months, but they are confident they can arrange work in other areas in order for me to stay more permanently :D

So i am still pinching myself!!! It has come round so quick it is unreal, but nothing like being chucked in the deep end.....and I intend to be swimming for a long time :D

Thanks gixxer, that's exactly what I plan on doing!

I'm sure I will get plenty of chances to meet many people from here now, especially those i missed at 420.

Many thanks everyone...hope to see you there tutti.

My original job is actually serving food and drinks (i think it may even be in Burger King  which is pretty funny), although they said they would put me into logistics after my 3 months if I was looking to stay longer.....and it is actually this that I will be doing straight away now, until they have a definite start date for the food and drinks job.
I have to take safety boots with me, as it is loading trucks and packing pallets etc. Good rate of pay though, but the logistics job could have some crappy hours.

Cheers guys. It's all happening so fast I can't get time to take it in, although it makes it more exciting this way.

I got the job through a European recruitment agency based in Kent. I wont give the name here as I doubt they would appreciate me advertising on a coffeeshop website before I even start...but if anyone wanted their details, feel free to pm me.

But they advertised the jobs for seasonal work, and after the security checks asked me for an interview.
The apartment is one the agency have and the rent is taken out from my wage, which is handy as a lot of my savings went on my recent trip and general living expenses lately. They say I can look for my own place, so long as I give 2 weeks notice.
