Bah, that's quitter-talk, we've captained our own boats (at least semi-responsibly) on more than one occasion, and you know we weren't sober...
Damnit are you for or against kayaking?!

Kidding, I know on that front you're probably referring to my "Mokum Boot" suggestion (it's like a nicer version of Boaty for the same price, much sturdier hull and faster engine), which if you're on board with and weather-permitting I'm all for pushing it into reality. A 420 fleet would be a right hoot me thinks

ACD Titanic...we’ll be alright as long as there’s no icebergs.

P.S. sign me up, almost goes without saying I’ll be on the boat, whatever kind of vessel it is (apart from kayaks obv)

Lots of cool ideas here!

A reprise of the Armada but with us lot steering the boats! Really?!

Nugs swimming to Utrecht with us as support crew running alongside passing joints that he attempts to keep dry whilst treading water!

I guess it's all about numbers really. I count 12 so far ...

I haven't spoken to Captain James recently because I was waiting to see who wants to come and what everyone wants to do.

Nobody has asked to be added to the list since I last updated it so it still looks like 12 of us.

What does everyone think?

Haven't been on a ride with captain James, but from what you guys report that seems to us to be the best choice. Followed by the fleet of stoners as second choice and the open smoke boat tour as the third choice...

ETA: if possible, and if everyone agrees, we think Lemmings suggestion of a two hour cruise, ending with the lights on around the canals, sounds absolutely perfect
It would be nice having a little extra time (especially as we understand there is a small toilet available on James' boat and we don't have to limit our beer intake) and it wouæd be 4he perfect f00king warm-up to the evening's shenanigans, it is 420 on a Saturday after all and Batavia et al are open late, ready for us to do our very best to turn them on their ends in an all-out 420 blowout!

Yeah all points considered I echo CC's sentiments:

#1 Choice Captain James, the boat that I used to stare at from my window everyday for my first year here. Been once, a fine vessel she is.

#2 Close second is the stoner fleet, if we do indeed have 12 and split that neatly in half (or so) amongst two vessels, six in each vessel we should have a pretty ideal capacity on each, and I think it would be a blast. And we'd get the most time for the least money so that's a plus.

Erm yeah, probably should book something soon

Kayaks it is then!
No?

So, still 12 of us then
I guess that could go up down or sidewise before the day
Exactly 12 would fill Cpt James' boat to the brim
At €30 each (with a potential €60 beer/weed fund or redistribution or whatever) that allows up to 2 noshows but no space for latecomers
Reserving the whole of SmokeBoat works out about the same price for 12 people on the same basis
Any more than 12 and only SmokeBoat is big enough
Lots more and it gets much cheaper too, albeit only for 1 hour
There is also the option of SmokeBoat's scheduled trips where numbers are less important
I gather James is doing per person shared trips too but they're very expensive

The self-drive option (Mokum Boot) is cheapest
Beyond the concerns about stoners skippering, these are open boats
I believe Those Dam Boat Guys (which sound similar to the old St. Nicolaas boat) is also an open boat
Open boats are great if it's dry and reasonably warm
Trouble is, if we book something like that weeks ahead then we might have to cancel or re-schedule at short notice

So, should I contact Cpt. James? Lilos? Kayaks? Group swim?

I send off e-mail to Smokeboat lady to even see if whole boat is avalibe around 7pm.
Don,t hurt to ask ..thinking finding a few along the way would not be problem filling it .
I just thought people where looking for something different ?
If you have a thought now would be good time to speak up ...Tic Tock :D
