Re: 4/20 Boat Trip Attempt 2019

Post by Lemming »

Not at all, Macky. I enjoyed St. Nicolaas, the Armada, Ganja and SmokeBoat. I'm up for anything. Simply passing on info for a collective decision.

Incidentally, I think both Trad and Hestia have been on at least one of our previous boat trips and there's no reason why anyone should miss out this time. Not leaving anyone behind!

All suggestions welcome and everyone who wants to come please post here so we have an idea of numbers.

Correction. Mokum Boot (self captained private boats). Each boat is up to 8 occupants and cost as such:

- €90 = 2 hours
- €110 = 3 hours

So if we go big and fill two boats neatly that's just over €13 a head for 3 hours of boat time.

The pros are flexibility and cost-effectiveness. And the freedom of charting your own course through the city's waterways at your own pace.

The cons are the boats are not covered so definitely weather-dependent; no bathrooms (though self-piloting allows more flexibility than other sans-WC options) and that not everyone will be together on the same vessel. Edit: also that least one person per vessel will need to maintain enough coherency to navigate the canals - though stoned or not, I can assure you it's not as daunting a feat as it sounds.

Lemming is correct, I was in the Armada (organized it actually) of 2011 and also correct is the statement ... we shall never leave an ACD'er behind 😁😁😎😁😁

P.S. Has anyone looked at "Those Dam Boat Guys'?

Checked those guys before little pricey. If the weather great we could go Kayaking in Utrecht or if it snows we could go to that Boat CS there :D

I almost suggested the Utrecht kayaking as a twist on the tradition but just figured it would get shot down, that said it goes without saying I'd be on board with that option.

Just for that, I'm starting a hardcore pro-kayaking campaign. Who's with me? Let's burn ganja and calories at the same time!

I think it's better from a health and safety perspective if us stoners are not in charge of any of the flotation devices involved in 420 weekend

'Twas also a joke on my part no worries. Anyway, alas Ro is probably right about the self-piloting of watercraft by us stoners.

Bah, that's quitter-talk, we've captained our own boats (at least semi-responsibly) on more than one occasion, and you know we weren't sober...
