Interesting idea.

We've had a couple of virtual openings of our local pub.
Last night we had several musicians entertaining us.
We used Zoom, which I hadn't heard of until about a week ago!
It's like Skype but especially good for meetings of lots of people.
It's optimised for speech and pictures rather than music so not perfect for our music night but still a lot of fun.
Plus tobacco smokers could smoke in the virtual pub and I could do Volcanoes.

I have no idea how secure or not Zoom is.
I believe it goes via servers in USA somewhere.
May not be as secure as WhatsApp, for instance.

As I understand it, you can do a meeting for about 40 minutes or so for free.
For longer meetings the host must buy a subscription.

That's about all I know but I'm sure others can fill in more.

Yesterday I never heard of Zoom until I read about it here today the reporter on TV was talking about kids having play dates with it

As I understand it we can have a Zoom meeting of up to 100 people for up to 40 minutes for free. I've only joined a meeting hosted by someone else so I don't know what's involved in hosting but joining was remarkably easy.

Maybe we can try it out sometime.

i had a look at their blurb and am still wondering how many 40 minute chunks you are permitted in a 24 hour period ... would be handy to know if there is a limit or if we can keep the 40 minute chunks rolling from one into another by each individual hosting a chunk

That line in my post was to save any added stress or worry for some of the folks here that use the forum and chatroom daily to keep in touch and communicate. Some of our more mature users may find this an easier way to communicate without all the facebook shitposting and scaremongering. I've been logging in here more often over the last few weeks and leaving facebook alone, Just to keep some sanity.

I don't believe anything is set up but if it comes to the crunch later in the year I would rather it be set up via Lemming and I will be in touch directly with him should it be needed. It's his site.. I just got a bit of space in my backyard going spare.

Weed donations on the other hand......

Which just gets me thinking.... more UK than stateside. How are MS sufferers and other people who find Cannabis beneficial with their condition getting safe supplies...
