Experimental Google Maps
Re: Experimental Google Maps
Unfortunately there isn't enough room to get all of the shops on the main map.
In the centre they're crowded together.
They are all on this map though: https://www.coffeeshopdirect.com/MapCentrum.html
The Google maps above are also complete.
They were up-to-date as of a couple months ago and the locations on them are more accurate than those shown by Google themselves.

Re: Experimental Google Maps
Unfortunately there are now a number of new closures to reflect on the maps.
Of those on the main ACD map,
- Ben, Betty Boop, Grasshopper, Homegrown Fantasy & Magic went to the schools thing.
- Double Reggae, Route 99, Route 66, Hill Street Blues & Sheeba all closed / are no longer coffeeshops. Think there's a couple of others too.
- Stix on Utrechtsestraat is now a Boerejongens
- Tops needs to be renamed SuperSkunk
I don't know what anyone else thinks, but with so many going and more to follow, unless its hard to change the main map would it make more sense to remove closed shops rather than continue greying them out? Sad I know but especially as there's not enough room in areas for all that are open...?
Personally I'd get rid of the few non-coffeeshops too for similar reasons.
There's a number of others shown on the fabulous google maps which are now closed too. Speaking of which...

What does it limit to? I think there are less than 200 actual shops left, pretty sure they could all be got on one map if only they were included. Which would be rather good really, just one accurate map of every open shop in the cityLemming wrote: Google Maps limits the number of locations on a single map so I can't do the whole of Amsterdam in one. Instead I've used the old zones that I created back in the 1990s.
Re: Experimental Google Maps
Perhaps its time for a coffeeshop map and a seperate smoker friendly bar map?. As it seems to me whilst coffeeshops seem to be closing that the number of smoker friendly bars are growing unless im getting the wrong impression?. Hill Street Blues on Warmostraat is now a smomer friendly bar selling beer. And did I correctly read somewhere the original Old Church is a smoker friendly (juice) bar?.
There could be a serious growing market for smoker friendly bars and such maps for to help as a kind of workaround for all the closing coffeeshops?.

Re: Experimental Google Maps
I'm suddenly becoming more enamoured with the latest Google Maps.
I've now managed to export all of the shops and import them into a single map.
Actual locations. This is the best data. Mostly in Amsterdam, these spots should be very accurate.
= Coffeeshops
= Smartshops, Growshops, Headshops and Smoker-friendly Bars
= Closed shops
Street View camera locations. These are the positions that the Street View photos on the shop pages were taken from. Not exactly where the shops are but very close.

Thank you to Lemming for putting this together, having the SV option makes this fantastic.

Great work , thanks for investing your time and effort into this !!

Re: Experimental Google Maps
Just created a simpler version. This one is just Amsterdam, just coffeeshops and only those that are still open.
Amsterdam Map
There's one shop missing, Future in Osdorp, because I can't find it. There are probably a few closed shops marked too. Please let me know if you notice any corrections I should make.

Re: Experimental Google Maps
Indeed it does.
Btw, de Tijd has undergone another name change, to Vondel.

Re: Experimental Google Maps
Checked this afternoon, No 1 Orfe doesn't seem to be there (nor has been for a while).
Biba had an open sign in the window but was clearly closed, could have been a 6pm thing so will check tomorrow but it definitely was on the schools phase 2 list so should have closed.
Hugo De Groot seems to just be calling itself Coffeeshop Hugo, not sure if that's new.

Re: Experimental Google Maps
Confirmed today...
De Appel is long gone
Roxy is boarded up with "RIP" and "Free Roxy" grafitti on it
Atlantis is now Superskunk
The old Superskunk seems to have reverted to being called Tops again
Biba is still open.

Last one (unless I remember more), Doors is now called The Store.
