Secure connection

Post by Lemming »

With a lot of help from HullDJ, we now have https

https://www.coffeeshopdirect.com

or

https://www.coffeeshopdirect.com/forum/index.php

This seems to make browsers on some devices whinge less.

We've had SSL for over a year now and all seems OK.

Until now it's been optional. You could either use:

http://www.coffeeshopdirect.com/

or

https://www.coffeeshopdirect.com/

If you used the old http version you would likely get warning messages in your browser or even be excluded altogether.

If you used the https version then you should get a padlock symbol in the address bar and your browser should be happier.

A few days ago I changed the root directory so that it always goes to the https version and I've now done the same to the forum subdirectory. This means that you will always be on the secure connection even if you followed an old link to get here.

One issue I am aware of is on shop pages that embed menus from FBN's site. These report as 'not fully secure' because FBN hasn't secured his site yet. There's not much I can do about this. If browsers become stricter in the future I may have to drop the menus. I've mentioned this to FBN but it might be worth you reminding him if you're chatting.

I seem to recall another issue with videos on the forum or something a while ago. I can't remember what the problem was now or whether I found a workaround.

Anyway, if you have any issues or comments, please post here.
