I think caution should be advised lemming if he started off that many posts and gets away with it who is to say he cant start posting several items every day and start to use your site which you have grown and and graciously shared with us all for free for his own profit ...advertising was never a thing on this site and im not saying im apposed to it,but if there is advertising from an outside source i think they should be paying.. we were all fine here and very happy with fbn's library of menus ,the og of them all.

Just what's been said here, says it all really. I personally think bombarding the site with pics of menu's while advertising your own web site is a bit of a joke really when you haven't contributed anything else to the site over the years, the menu's should be sent to FBN and allow him to post them as normal and maybe a link back to the audiokush website would be acceptable for all??.

We really don't have a problem with the new posts, as long as the commercial content is kept at a reasonable level. The poster also seems like a very reasonable person, who engaged with us in the chat in a friendly and understanding way, and has said that he'd reach out to both Lemming and Fly By Night. So if this holds up, the forum, FBN's site and the newcomer's site (as well as us, the users) can potentially all benefit from increased traffic, a larger / extended community etc. If there's respect and a spirit of cooperation, we think there's more than enough interest out there to nourish and grow all of the sites, even beyond what they are now.

These things being said, maybe the amount of posts was a bit much to begin with, some more general contributions would be appreciated and the posts could do with a bit less "flair", they do stand out a bit in the design / appearance. However, to us at least, the latter point is more a matter of taste...

For the record I totally agree with the sentiments in CC's post.

The new user has been polite, friendly and helpful and offers almost exactly the same 'service' to the ACD as FBN. So I fail to see how one might draw an unfavourable comparison logically unless one is locked into some form of unwelcome (here at least - from my perspective) political dogma.

Personally I welcome the extra information; and because I'm an adult and am able to exercise what I believe to be free will - I can happily not click on his links if that's what I prefer to do.

The contributor in question may well be generating brand awareness and consequently making money from the posts. I don't see any problem with that personally. If the community here wants to censor pertinent information regarding coffeeshop menus simply because the contributor might benefit financially - that seems a somewhat inward looking, unhelpfully parochial and unfriendly means of crippling the site from including information that its audience might find helpful. And more importantly will likely find elsewhere if such censorship is acted upon.
If the ACD wants to remain relevant and not just become an echo chamber for its more vocal members; my feeling is that welcoming the new member is the right thing to do.

I can't help feeling that there's an air of cutting off ones nose to spite the face of those opposed to this new members contribution. Since when did making a living become a bad thing I wonder?

have noticed a few of these Menu Advertisments posted about. I initially saw them as direct links to another site that is probably making a profit of some description from their use of the forum without giving anything back in links or in the spirit of the forum as is the case with many spammers on here. However, there's no selling of viagra or dodgy timeshares the content given is free. Agreed, it's a bit more excitement than ACD is used to. Hopefully when his profile hits the billion mark he will occasionally remember us little guys at ACD.

If ACD are ok with this then fine.

What I do see is the problem in sharing of these publicly posted menu's. This group has been well supported since the days of the FrogHollow by FBN even hosting us for a while and it was a community unwritten rule that menus posted by members were available for use by FBN for his menu site AND any others to share. FBN has always given credit for each menu he has used and from memory he would ask permission first but was rarely, if ever, refused as it was a community type service that worked well backed with running a T&T Who's in Town calendar. system for various groups, not just ACD.

The issue here is SHARING

Enjoy your time here, share as we all have for many years, We love menu's and we love sharing the menus with anyone who wants to see them, We love stories and debates, we love new members such as yourself that has new and relevant content for the community as a whole to share. I don't just mean ACD, I mean the whole canna community that finds the information they want because of everyone giving the information for free. Stating copywrite on your images in a forum such as this was a bit of a douche move mate. Take the kudos you will get from such as myself that you had the balls to ask the budtender for a photo of the menu. I find it hard to see the menu and ask for my goods never mind trying to gibber out that I'd like to attempt a menu pic and asking for permission to do so. Lets see the love of sharing. Watermark your menu images with a logo and send them wild man! Share the love and see where it takes you.

Maybe shove us a link on your site, It's not like you haven't got the room .
