That place is on my list. Heard it's the best steak in Amsterdam! It's only a few blocks fom where I'm staying.

My last two Amsterdam steaks here, and no plans to return to de Klos.

Seriously considering getting two (2) of those beefsteaks next time and passing on dessert. Yeah, it's THAT good and I'm usually THAT hungry in town. I'll gladly pay that tab, especially for a birthday dinner, then go out and burn a big, happy bowl of hash.

Amsterdam eats, and food in general, can be overrated. But not this place.

I ate here during my visit last month and can verify what everyone else is saying about it most likely being the best steak available in Amsterdam. I can also get behind what Winnie said about you must like it rare as that would be my only complaint. It was way undercooked for my liking, of course, part of this was probably my fault for not specifying how I wanted it cooked when ordering. She didn't ask, I was stoned and trying to be cool by ordering in my not very good dutch...so I forgot to say anything about medium-well. By the time I realized I hadn't said how I wanted it cooked it was too late. I could tell she was really expecting us to ask about a menu like every other group of english speakers in there so she should point at the menu board and walk away. Of course, being undercooked didn't keep me from eating it all.
Thanks go to Nimrod for the recommendation on good places to eat, as I was looking for someplace nice that I could take my friend and his dad(seeing as his dad was paying)

We went to Cafe de Klos a couple days before this and I think I actually enjoyed the meal there a bit more, mostly because of the atmosphere and music though. I can't comment on their steaks though as I had the ribs like everyone else, which were awesome. I think I'd go to Cafe Loetje first if a steak was what I wanted however...

It really doesn't matter how you specify you want your steak cooked... you'll get a bowl of blood every time

In March, I ordered my steak medium-well and it arrived butterflied. In October, I ordered medium and it was medium. Always swimming in those naughty juices. I would do shots of that warm steak juice.

Good shit, Maynard.

I can confirm that they can do a good medium/well , that's what the picture is no blood and still very succulent and soft

I didn't. :?
Steak was medium rare, nice and pink in the centre, perfection.
If the steak is well rested, there shouldn't be a pool of blood under it, regardless of cooking time. Chefs fault, schoolboy error.
