If I leave here tomorrow
Would you still remember me?
For I must be travelling on, now,
cause theres too many places Ive got to see.
But, if I stayed here with you, girl,
Things just couldnt be the same.
cause Im as free as a bird now,
And this bird you can not change.
Lord knows, I cant change.

Bye, bye, its been a sweet love.
Though this feeling I cant change.
But please dont take it badly,
cause lord knows Im to blame.
But, if I stayed here with you girl,
Things just couldnt be the same.
Cause Im as free as a bird now,
And this bird youll never change.
And this bird you can not change.
Lord knows, I cant change.
Lord help me, I cant change
So glad I got to see this band in 1976 Mobile Alabama. The Gimme Back My Bullets Tour. Me and a few mated used to get to few good gigs in our seagoing days.

Try a live freebird from that time (before the helicopter tragedy)

What a long strange trip it is.

Talking of the Four Aces - I saw a really good film about the history of the club at a small screening a few years ago. The director is trying to get it funded so he can relase it, have a look:

Dave Mason -" look at you look at me",from the album "Alone Together",the cd version i think...studio anyway...
The cast of players includes: Rita Coolidge, Claudia Lennear, and Delaney & Bonnie on vocals. Jim Capaldi (Traffic) on drums, Leon Russel keyboards. Mason on guitar obviously, joined by (among others) Chris Ethridge (ISB & Flying Burrito Brothers).

Not Dark Yet 30 Juni 1999

Published on Aug 17, 2015

The poet laureate of rock 'n' roll:

"I was born here and I’ll die here against my will
I know it looks like I’m moving, but I’m standing still
Every nerve in my body is so vacant and numb
I can’t even remember what it was I came here to get away from
Don’t even hear a murmur of a prayer
It’s not dark yet, but it’s getting there."

It's always darkest before the dawm!!

Interesting. I've been dredging my memory for what I can remember about the club but I just remember that me and my Mrs were the only non West Indians probably to go there in the early 70's. What else? Walls of speakers, dark rooms and weeeeed, a cool sort of place, we were local hippys so we felt at home anywhere we could smell the green. :D

I've said before that this thread has turned me on to a lot of different music I wouldn't normally hear. Got a groove going with Astrix there RvanSteensel, brilliant album. cheers 8) :)

@ KeyMonCha. I'm really sad I cant manage to work the festivals anymore, WOMAD was my favourite. I love it for bands like Dubioza Kolektiv.

And then to bring the day.
