The Dutch Grand Prix at Zandvoort Will Return to the F1 Calendar in 2020
Next year's Grand Prix will be the first F1 race in the Netherlands since 1985.

Max Verstappen fans, we've got great news: Formula 1 confirmed today it will visit Zandvoort in the Netherlands for a Dutch Grand Prix in 2020. The news comes just days after F1 boss Chase Carey suggested the championship would drop two current Grands Prix to make room for new races on the calendar.

This won't be the first time Formula 1 has raced in the Netherlands. The championship held 30 races in the country, between 1952 and 1985, all of which were at Zandvoort. The circuit, located just 25 miles east of Amsterdam, will need to be modified to meet the FIA's current safety standards.

According to Carey, Verstappen's popularity helped with the decision. "In recent years, we’ve seen a resurgence of interest in Formula 1 in Holland, mainly due to the enthusiastic support for the talented Max Verstappen, as seen from the sea of orange at so many races," the F1 CEO said in a statement.

This won't be the only new Grand Prix on the 2020 F1 calendar. The series confirmed earlier this year that, for the first time ever, it will visit Vietnam to hold a street race in the country's capital city of Hanoi. It's still unclear which circuits F1 will maintain for 2020, and which will get cut.

Darn, I wish they held it around 4/20/20. I would definitely spend the day enjoying F1 racing around Zandvoort. :D :D
