What was the last founded coffeeshop?
What was the last founded coffeeshop?
I often think about that question but I noticed on the coffeeshops pages on this site that Hill Street Blues on the market states it was founded in 2003 in the info?. Would that make it the last founded 1 or was there any after that?.

HSB looks like it's been around longer than 8 years!

Not the 1 in Newmarket (the other on Warmoesstraat yes) as I still remember it being mentioned just after it opened or about 2004. So either it was 1 of the last ones or it only changed hands and renamed in 2003?.welshie wrote:HSB looks like it's been around longer than 8 years!

Ah yes, upon re-reading your post I see I chose not to read 'on the market'! My bad.Dave J wrote:Not the 1 in Newmarket (the other on Warmoesstraat yes) as I still remember it being mentioned just after it opened or about 2004. Re: What was the last founded coffeeshop?
Does a change of coffeeshop name make it a new coffeeshop?. Not thought of things that way but guess it could as a current coffeeshop re-branding and having a complete change of design from the decor to menu would make it a new coffeeshop in all but premesis.balou1999 wrote:I guess technically it might be Solo. Prehaps I should have asked which coffeeshop was the last 1 to have a licence granted for then?.
Re: What was the last founded coffeeshop?
I doubt the license changes so you cant really call a newly named shop the newest, haven't a clue what shop had the latest license, didn't some new shops appear out in the suburbs recently, maybe the Loft (part of the Siberie chain)?
Being pedantic and knobbish since 1972
Re: What was the last founded coffeeshop?
Have they deffo stoped granting licences all together then?. Or is it just the main populated areas that cant have new licences?. As if there is newer ones in the suburbs like Boner thinks then do I wrongly recall there being something about no new coffeeshops allowed for the last few years?.
Re: What was the last founded coffeeshop?
The Budguy in the remaining Stix, told me they had sold the other one to new owners, who renamed it Soho....balou1999 wrote:I guess technically it might be Solo. Same owner, new name.

Wasn't rookies the last one to get a "new" license? hence why it's called rookies?
Re: What was the last founded coffeeshop?
I believe Rookies is named so from younger staff from another cs taking it over ? Would have to check a book I have (spliffs)
