How many coffeeshops are there in Holland today (2011)?

This directory says on the frontpage:

The Directory has details of well over 1000 shops throughout the Netherlands.

But on this page it says there were 666 of them in 2009:

How many are there today and are some of the coffeeshops in the directory permanently closed?

well at a quick glance of the a to z, i see some names of places clearly crossed out with a closed coffeshop note if you roll mouse over it.

others such as lets say la canna of the top of my head of which i know has been closed within last few years and not replaced is simply no longer in a to z.

so it seems a number of closures have taken place since the peice was written.
