Re: WHATS IN YOUR GARDEN????
Thank you all for the kind words. The greenhouse is way less stressful than the construction business. I call it my early retirement. I get to work at my own pace and smoke weed whenever I want. I sell the produce at our local farmers market twice a week(6 hours total) and deliver to a few local restaurants. Life is good
25211 That is one awasome looking yard you have. Looks like a great place to sit in the morning with a coffee and a joint and watch the world go by.

Chickens- 3 of the darlins. Built their coop last weekend. Love city-fresh eggs in the morning, and pickling projects in the evening.

Cheers, your right to a point, just not watching the world go by, more letting mother nature block the (alleged) real world outsam wrote:Thank you all for the kind words. (just been a tad too damp recently to enjoy the bench so the view from the window or doorstep has to make do )
Nice one, if I remember correctly keeping chickens is expressly forbidden in the deeds to my houseEasilySuede wrote: Chickens- 3 of the darlins. Built their coop last weekend. Love city-fresh eggs in the morning, and pickling projects in the evening.
As Is selling alcohol
Blame Earl Grey of Wilton for that, the land was originally his
So an update on the garden
Well given the weather (and we have had lots off it!) I am pleasantly surprised with what it looks like
I have just about being managing to keep the lawn cut by keeping it short and cutting it as and when it's dry(ish)
well till yesterday that was, about a quarter way through cutting it when the rain started
And 3 quarters way through when I had to give up till it stopped
then finish off the rest
(Argh if I had started it 10 mins sooner I would have got it done in one go)
it is getting to the point of needing a good raking but will have to wait until it is a lot drier
Last week I grabbed a couple of hours in both mine and next doors bit
Mostly dead heading & cutting back the oriental poppies in both & hacking back the forget-me-nots in next doors bit
I had also let a load of Lady's Mantel grow in next doors bit behind my lavender
Last time I looked it wasn't to bad
But after the little touch of rain we have had recently it had got flattened on to the lavender
so all that got hacked back
(could explain why my back & leg have been giving me gip this week)
so some photos
Next doors bit is doing well considering the lack of attention it has had, but I think that it could do with at least turning over in places
as well as feeding the soil and possibly adding some compost to it
Still it looks good to say it's all sown itself
after hacking back the forget-me-nots it has given the Fuchsias I grew from cuttings last year a bit more room
With the pinks flowering these give an idea of what I was thinking when I planted this boarder last September
I am not confident that it will survive another winter but we will see
I think I know where I will be for most of the day now, when not watching the bike GP's or BSB
(weather permitting that is)
Only job left for today is cut some more pinks before they get flattened by the next downpour
TTFN
P.S. Just a thought, is it time to give up gardening & start Ark building?

Well I have been going to do an update on the garden even taken the photos
just need to sort them out and will try to do it soon
However I have just had one of those YES! moments
stood by the sink just putting the roach in a joint when I looked up and saw this on my lawn
& for once the camera was handy
(Can anyone give positive ID on it, it looks like a young one of whatever type)
Yes! Yes! Yes!!!
just had to share these, and all taken around 16:20 B.S.T today
just about to edit the video & will post to you tube if it's ok & not to gruesome

Anyway here is the video
Must say I am impressed with the video to say it was taken through the window hand held with a bit of zoom as well
Without standing on the lawn (I have given in & put feed & weed on it so cant even cut it at the mo)
I cant be sure but it looks like it's only left feathers behind
It was even kind enough to take the branch with it
I am still buzzing from that
Time for a beer me thinks

The oranges are almost ready. There are more but this is most ripe batch. Both trees could use some TLC, and they will get it now that they are ours.
