The good lady and I are going to Berlin in december for the christmas markets, does anyone know the best area to stay in? I'm thinking Mitte looks about the best, cheers in advance.

Here is a tip that I gave TwoCannucks before their trip to Berlin:

If you are going to be in Berlin, you must go to the Rogacki Deli.
This is the deli of delis..unbelievable!!!

In Berlin, I stayed at the Ibis Hotel across from the Convention Center. The hotel was clean and comfortable and the price was very reasonable because it is not in the center of Berlin. The Metro station is very close to the hotel and if you walk a couple of blocks from the hotel there are bakeries, delis, supermarkets, major banks, flower shops, etc.

Me and the missus went there last year but stayed just inside the outer ring. The next time we go to Berlin we are going to stay near the Tiergarten, lovely park.

Hello Boner,

I am a resident. Mitte is handy because from there everything is easy to reach. I have never been in a Hotel so far but there plenty of new buildings/ Hotels around Alexanderplatz and Hackescher Markt. The Public transport over here will bring you everywhere just hope for no snow . Tiergarten is awesome but check the Teufelsberg!

You are more than Welcome. Schönefeld Airport is a bit off the spot whereas Tegel has better conections to the City Centre. Its like Stansted (sp?) and Heathrow Airport, I think. Smoking weed is Not a problem at all...
