Meeting Point, which is a hostel and has a smoking room is the cheapest place i know of to stay,
Round the corner on Beurstraat there are 3 or 4 hotels , Hotel Travel, which i had no problems smoking in,
Also if you want complete control of your smoking stay at the Greenhourse Effect hotel, if you look at the map and click on their name, you can go to the website
Hope this helps

Excuse me while I light my Spliff.....
I'll second that.colinzeal wrote:Hotel Vijaya Oudezijds Voorburgwal 44, cheap and dont seem to care about smoking in your room. Not even remotely fancy but clean with decent staff.
It's nowt fancy, but clean and friendly, with ensuite rooms and breakfast included.
They'll look after your bags as well, both before checking-in time and after you check out, for those of us who arrive and depart at extremes of the day/night, which is great because of it's location nice and close to the station.
Nice to be able to do the last few coffeeshops before having to head off to Schipol without having to drag your bags around in tow...

Nice one. OQ is an OK place. Their sister hotel down the road, although I've never stayed at the Old Nickel, has an insane amount of unusual beers on offer, but the OQ is a perfectly adequate budget hotel I found and have stayed there on numerous occasions.
