whats it really like to go dam on ur own?

Post by real smoker »

tell the truth guys, whats it really like to go dam on ur own? i have been there 4 times already but each was with my ex or with mates. I would like to go on my own (not always easy to get friends to come) but i keep getting the feeling it would be boring and it would just be me sitting on my own in the corner of a coffee shop somewhere lol, do many people go on their own? and how hard is it to meet people?

cheers

i hate fake smokers

The last few visits I've had were all solo trips, and to be honest, it's never been a problem for me.

There are ALWAYS people in coffeshops who will be willing to sit and have a chat about some of the most varied topics imaginable, but if you want a little quiet, "reflective" time, then you can't beat it either way..

I know enough of the staff in some of the coffeeshops by now to be able to pass the time with them as well, plus there's always gonna be some ACD members floating around who'll be happy to meet up and have a toke with, whether they are residents or just passing though...

It's hard to get bored unless there aren't any things you'd want to be doing there - in which case, why bother going?? :? But that's never happened yet - at least, not to me.

I've got three trips booked next year, two (so far) are solo missions, and the third is with a mate who's never been before... " Now don't worry bud, this Terminator stuff is what ALL the beginners start off with..."

No matter what, I won't be spending much time on my own - that's one of the things I like the most about Amsterdam - a never ending supply of decent folks who generally all share a common love of the finer things in life...

I'm a creature of habit and tend to frequent the places I enjoy and know the best, but there are always new places to find and experiences to explore!

Have a look on FlyByNite's "Who's In Town" page and arrange or join a Toke and Talk or play it by ear once you land - that can be a great way to check the place out, even after the two decades or so I've been going!

The first time i went i was bymyself, this was July this year and i was anxious but needn't have been, i had the time of my life. I went twice after with mates it was a laugh but not the same !

Going by yourself, you will see and feel so much more in Amsterdam, the people are really very friendly and there is always something to do. I enjoyed smoking my head of and then cooling down in the RLD !

I loved going solo in Dam i really enjoyed it, i got to relax and have a blast.

When i was in the mood to socialise i easily met nice wonderful people, the place is alive with charectors !!

heres the travelogue of my first solo trip i never finished !!

Sounds like heaven to me

On your owns best, nearly always go solo. Just plan things to do during the daytime with a couple of CS stops and hit up CSs in the evening.

Can't beat it, it's cool as you can go at your pace and there's no 'oooh, let's try this or that CS' and if you want to crash out, then you can. If you're with someone - woman, mate or whatever - then they might want to stay in a particular CS or move on, just when you're comfy.
I stayed for a week at WW's in Haarlem and had such a nice time and met some extremely nice locals and the same with tourists  .

Go for it RS, you'll love it 8)

It is defos a good laugh

I stayed in the flying pig and within about 10 mins of being sat in the smoking room i had struck up convo's with at least 5 people or so! In the end I was turning down invites to go places as I had other things already lined up with other new people I met!

Just be chilled and start conversations about weed thats what I did!

The truth!
last 4 time i was solo since i had been b4 wit friends... was easy on knowing where to go and not...
the first time was coming in from south france by train« solo trip in france ;) « paris was special at nigh was kinda on look out for shady ppl selling drugs whom seemed not too friendly...got off train in amsterdam few days later at noon...wit in seconds from gettin off train had found some guy whom was lost and ask if i knew any hotel told him walk up that street...i go to Flyingpig wit NO chance so keep walking....go in this other place and who there? My new friend we partied 6hard days...then i went to BOSAMSTEL (20km from centre) camping rented a bike cause was gettin low on money... WEll i REALLY got bored the others in my 10euro a night HUT wit 6beds Each night was diffrent ppl and most were pakis and indous...and none of these ppl were smokers and was rude to me! « stay at borbing camp from 6days biking to town each day was long...

Since them i always take few days of biking aorund the country « solo Amsterdam-harlem-leiden-denhaag-rotterdam « was nice wit tulip fields

Rotterdam-amsterdam« was boring got lost so many times that day

Amsterdam-Harlem- North sea route all the way to DenHelder « was Nice but boring at some moments when i was about to give up on 2days ...i saw the most amazing thing and it keap me goin till Dekoog « Texel island « once there i was in Paradise till the lovely Rain made me go back to AMD!

Moments i loved being alone:
tupid fiels near the garden taking picture and smoking

Sitting waitting on sun to go down getting drunk and high on 3 1/2 of my first try of barney G-13 and feeding the ducks in Kinderdijk « were all them wilmils are!

the First Beach promenade near Camperduin just seconds b4 goin up that hill was goin to try to find a train to denhelder But my intisct told me to check what was on the other side of the Grass Druin hill and there its was
10km of road on the NORTH SEA « most of stoped 15times to smoke joints! then HELL again in the DUINS for 19km of UP DOWN UP DOWN....
then  the Denhelder Promanade 19km of road on the sea zigzaging all the way to Denhelder and seing the islands from fare was so freaken nice...

I am planning a possible trip to the Dam by myself. My mate may come along with me but I may spend a couple of extra days out there without him.

I've been 3 times before but never by myself and I am a bit nervous but also looking forward to the freedom.

I'm hoping to go around the 7th of Jan and stay out there for 4 nights. Probably going to be freezing but its cheap and a good smoke will warm me up.

My first trip was in 2003 with my ex. Since then, I started going annually in 2006. I have a lot of friends who say they want to go, but for the last four years I have gone alone. I am at the point now where I think I prefer to go alone. I always meet new people and have made old friends by now. I can highly recommend going alone.
