Plus winter tires may have some grit in the rubber to aid in stopping and Handling. I wouldn't run my car in winter without them. On a snowy days (30+cm) or icy conditions the difference is like night and day.
I doubt if hardly anyone in the UK use dedicated winter tyres as it's hit or miss if we get severe weather during the winter or not. I understand winter tyres have much softer rubber on them, but in turn they wear out quicker and you use more fuel due to the extra traction they give, but I sure could do with some right now.

Have no snow here either, just very severe rock hard bad frost and sheets of ice, although the ice is slowly melting with a bit of help from the sun today, it's treacherous driving/walking on it at the moment. I was skidding like hell driving my car out of the driveway yesterday, but looks like it's melting OK, just not quick enough for me.

I have growm up with lots of ice and snow. ALthough because of global warming IM sure is the reason our winters are alot milder then they were when I was a kid. Driving in snow can be fun. just remember to steer out of slides instead of putting on the brake which is a reflex for alot of us. ice on the other hand has no control. good luck with that.

i realise i'l probably be shot down in flames for saying this but imho global warming is not man made, imo the warming of the earth is the fault of this little known object called the sun, what makes us humans believe we have more of an effect on this planet than something so powerfull it keeps planets the size & distance of jupiter in its orbit, thats not to say im not 100% against polluting our planet & cutting down all the trees, i mean who wants to breathe polluted air, but i just think we are being duped by the world governments attempts to get their hands on even more of our money through taxes & the media is buying into the scam, in the 70's their were warnings of a new ice age, this is at a time when nations around the world were using more fossil fuel power stations than they do now,

Yeah, stuff this ice on the road while driving. It's bad where I am. Could hardly get out of the lane leading to the village, but as soon as I hit the main roads, all was fine. I'm checking out getting some chains for my wheels now.

Nahhh I could never shoot you pauli. I know some think as you do. I dont know the truth, I just go by what I see. When I was young, we used to have wicked snow storms. Now we are lucky if we get one good dump. So that said, you could be right also.

I wouldn't want to shoot to down either Paulli, however similar scientific consenus has resulted in an agreement on the validity of Evolution, it i accept that standard of evidence for Evolution i have to accept it for Globel Warming.

After if im wrong and we take steps what do we loose? If your wrong and we dont take any steps, its not worth contemplatig.

You know, even though to me that reads as crazy, you're not alone in not believing that Climate Change doesn't exists. Just check out how the Copehagen summit ended

Thankyou!
I think we are contributing to an accelerated warming but the earth has been getting warmer for millions of years. Otherwise we'd still be in the ice age!
But as always there's money to be made.

If there is such a thing as God & he wanted to show the people of the world that global warming is a myth thought up by politicians, how would he convey that message to the people of the world

http://www.bloomberg.com/apps/news?pid= ... hxpKnSYowY

http://news.smh.com.au/breaking-news-wo ... -lpxt.html

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldne ... erica.html

even australia where drought which has been happening for thousands of years, and more recently has been blamed on 'global warming'
oh yeah dont forget they are in the middle of summer over there
