Katsu and places to watch football??

Post by smokseysmoke »

hey,

im very interested in hitting up katsu during my trip next sat. It will be my 5th time and im still yet to hit it up..but if ive got any chance of getting my friends to come with me then i need to get directions sorted. I realise its in Albert Cuyp Market (sp) but i not sure how to get there. If i start by centraal station which tram can i get? how much? and how long roughly does it take? I have to get my hands on some black widow...

Also, the weekend im there Man U are playing Villa for the carling cup...i was wondering which places you would recommend to watch the game with a smoke? there will be about 6 of us....

Thanks in advance

From CS take tram 16 and get off at Albert Cuypstraat. Cross the straat and walk through the market and at the first straat, Eerste van der Helststraat, turn right Katsu is just down on the next block at number 70. If you buy a ticket on the tram it is 2.60 E It about 20 minutes from the station to the shop. It not a bad walk either, about an hour from CS, you can stop off at Mellow Yellow on the way.

As far as watching football with a smoke try Stone's Cafe on the Warmoesstraat. I'm not sure if the Satellite Sports Cafe on the Leidseplein allows smoking but they will have the game on at 16:00. http://www.satellitesportscafe.nl/

if you're like 6 who want to travel by tram sometime, you should consider buying a strippenkart (sp?). you can find some with 15 or 25 cases (not sure on 2nd number) at any Albert Hein baccy desk (at the entrance).

and it's 2 case from CS to Albert Cuyp's tram stop and you can travel during 1 hour.
so you can easily go and come back (to Mellow Yellow?) if it's too full to take a sit. ;)

I would usually avoid this place like the plague, but last time I was in Dam we found that Grasshopper was showing live prem games. Popped in there with our other purchases to watch a game. Could be a chance they will show the Cup game...

Basjoe had the Arsenal game on last week, they might have it showing or if you ask they might sort it for you. 8)

I normally watch footie at the Stones cafe on Warmostraat. There are lots of places along there that have the game and usually have signs saying 'yes you can smoke here' too.
Cafe Remember in the red light district just off Niewmarket has a smoking area in the back with some nice plasma screens showing the footie.
