Yes they are....but it’s your birthday. Spend a couple of bucks and enjoy.

Welcome to Amsterdam haha
Drop your pants and assume the position, Amsterdam is a very expensive city all round.

Four of us going 20th to 22nd. We struggled with finding anything under £150 per couple per night. We were looking for smoker friendly or with balcony though. Our shortlist was a few apartments west of the centre and one in haarlem (all on airbnb). Settled on staying in haarlem and taking the 15 - 30 min journey into amsterdam.

I also had a bit of a wildcard but the rest of our group weren't intersted. How about glamping short tram journey from city centre:-

€262 for 21st to 24th march....

Prices in the city have gone crazy over the last few years and everything has gone up in price. Even the apartments/hotels that I could pretty much guarantee are now becoming fewer and fewer or just overpriced. I used to always use apartments in the past, but now they are becoming way to expensive unless you are booking with a group of mates, but what makes me laugh is that even the cheap hotels are now becoming way to expensive for what they are :?

This coronavirus thing might be a blessing in disguise for you.
I'd hang on until you're due to leave and look on some of the hotel discount websites like lastminute or booking.
