High all just seen a couple of YouTube vids from 1983 Amsterdam.
in them there is a brief shot of a coffeeshop apparently on nieuwendijk.
it has a narrow ally next to it and a another one opposite but offset.

Re: mystery coffeeshop from 1983
OK, you got me interested
Looks like Nieuwendijk 217 on the corner of Zoutsteeg to me. I'm not aware of a coffeeshop there though. The closest was Prix D'Ami 3 which I have at Nieuwendijk 239. It's always possible that that address is wrong.
It's also possible that it was a straight café but the sign sure looks like a proper coffeeshop.
See this index: Nieuwendijk.
Hope someone knows the answer.

Re: mystery coffeeshop from 1983
Hi,
I don't have 'the' answer regarding the coffeeshop name but the location is a little higher up Nieuwendijk at what was number 185 / 187 opposite the junction with Sint Nicolaasstraat. Where the coffeeshop was has been redeveloped and is now the back of Primark, to the side of it is the covered Beurspassage which was once a narrow alley way running through to Damrak, where the musician is playing by the square columns is the entrance to Sint Nicolaasstraat with what is now Albert Heijn to one side and the Amsterdam Cheese Company to the other.
Despite walking those streets many times from the mid 1980's onwards I cannot remember whether the place in question was a Coffeeshop though.
Cheers
