Beatlemania - 20/9 - 22/9

Post by jollylittlehun »

After an amazing 420 meeting a large chunk of the acd crew I've begun to plan my next adventure.

I saw a Beatles cover band in Manchester last year called The Analogues. They absolutely blew me away and as luck would have it they're Dutch. A 3 date tour of The Beatles studio years is planned for later this year at the ZiggoDome with the first being 20/9.

I am hoping the wife will be coming along with me this time so will be staying in more 'upmarket' accommodation. Most likely an Airbnb somewhere on or next to the water.

Need to start saving the pennies and keeping an eye out for flight sales.

Also need to start writing some reviews and maybe a little trip report from 420. I didn't take any pictures though.

Another trip to Ams sounds wonderful. Enjoy!
I'd love to read your account of 420 and/or reviews so please do write.
I'll try to do some more of mine soon too.

If I can find a reason to go to Amsterdam I always will.

I'm off to Turkey next week and plan to do nothing so I'll try to get a little trip report done and do some reviews.

Look forward to reading the rest of yours.

Two of my favourite things jollylittlehun, the Netherlands and the Beatles :) Will try and sort a trip out for then, I'm thinking about September now.

If you're over let me know and we can meet up. It's looking like it's definitely on for me and the Mrs.

They will blow you away. By far the best Beatles tribute and I think it's the best gig I've ever been to. And I've been to hundreds.

I saw the Beatles live in Toronto back in the mid 1960's. Couldn't hear a thing, screaming all around me. :) :D
If I don't see you no more in this world, I'll meet you on the next one.

Haha, so great. I wish I was around for the Beatles, but there are still 2 around, so we've been lucky I suppose :)

I would've loved that Trad. Lucky bugger.

Lets turn these tentative plans into confirmed plans!

All booked up for 3 days in Amsterdam. Should be coming out the doors of Centraal Station around 1pm Friday 20/9 and leaving around 9pm Sunday 22nd. Staying a stones throw from Siberie. Tickets booked for The Analogues as well.

Excited!

@Azlaker

I'll be doing a little bit of live reporting in the forum.

I've also just bought an osmo pocket 3 camera and a backpack mount to film as I walk and cycle. Would like to try to make a trip report vlog.

Might post little clips to the WhatsApp group during the trip if I can.

The Saturday morning plan consists of a cycle to some coffeeshops west of Marnixstraat and possibly some around the De Baarsjes area. Then a big swing out to the east to hopefully catch MJ at The Stud.

I'll try to get some video of the inside of coffeeshops and the menus.

Sunday morning will be similar but in a different area. Suggestions welcome.

Let us know how you get on in the Baarsjes, have only been to Massawa out there so interested to know about some of the other shops (El Marssa etc)
Next trip: October/November 2024.

I'll see what I can do mate. I stayed right next door to and had to collect the keys from Flashback a few years ago. I really like the area.

Do you know what coffeeshops in the area are sit-in?

8 days to go!
