day 2

Post by kalima »

I was up early, had a few coffees in my room and rolled a blunt of the blue dream and headed off to vondel park, it was lovely and sunny, I found a quiet spot and enjoyed the blue dream... wow I was super high after this.. lovely hit.. I then headed towards rookies but when I arrived there I was still very high and really didn't fancy the dark interior to be honest and this again seemed to be a theme of the trip... I just didn't really pick the right coffeeshops ... anyways I had decided before the trip to try a few other places and wanted a bit of atmosphere here. so I passed on Rookies and head off to happy days...
had a lovely walk and I do have some pictures of some of the sights,

So when I was looking through the form and coffeeshop menus I had spotted happy days and for some reason I had formulated that this woulds be a small welcoming local coffeeshop with local vibe, so I decided that I would walk out here ... as I have mentioned I seem to make a few bad choices, so after a lovely walk I arrived at happy days and found that the smoking area was essentially an empty room with small counter running around the edge, and well atmosphere less especially as they don't do hot drinks. the bud tender was friendly but really didn't seem to have much knowledge, I asked for a gassy strain and she said she had no idea what I mean't... so I got a gram of the platinum cookies for 11 euros, was ok but nothing special and that combined with not hot drink mean't I didn't stay long. the shop had a high turnover for buy and fly and if you staying in the area, it is probably great, but I for some reason thought it would have small smoking area with a few tables and have regulars who popped in and a good local feel... where as it was a bit of a soulless room .. but as I say I was probably expecting something that doesn't exist but I guess I hoped for a more basic De kade ...

... now I had planned on visiting a couple of other places in this area, eastwood and the stud but after this I rethought my plans and decide to head back into the centre and visit Het Ballonnetje , an old favourite of mine...after another lovely walk
I arrived and was helped by a new bud tender for me, a super friendly American women and I decided to go for the sour cream and it was a top smoke in my vape, nice sour taste and good sativa/hybrid high, had a chat with a couple of local smokers in there, a couple of coffees and then headed back to my hotel

on the walk to Het Ballonnetje I went past a park with a memorial to victims of the dutch slave trade

beautiful but sobering on how humanity can be to other humans
...now I hadn't eaten all day, one of the things about drinking coffee I guess, but now I realised I was hungry, so I popped into the Albert heim near the hotel and picked up some snacks and a couple of beers...
popped to vondel pack and had a blunt of one of the purchases from Chapiteau, again I can't remember but I do rate this coffeeshop.
decided to grab some proper food , and I had decided to grab a meal from one of the Ethiopian restaurants just north of Vondel park, the first 2 were closed but luckily the last one was open... had a amazing meal

After this meal I was pretty stuffed and went out for a walk into the centre for the evening, I picked up something from Johnny"s coffeeshop and grabbed a beer and smoke , but ended up heading back relatively early... had a couple of blunts outside the hotel before crashing

Great update there with some top pics too.

I'd like to see that slavery memorial. Beautiful but sobering indeed.

@jollylittlehun Ethiopian food is lovely although the spongey pancake things aren't really to my taste. Any idea which restaurant it was @kalima ? Looks good.

Nice report, well done.
it's a shame that you missed the Stud, great staff, great vibe and excellent menu.
If I don't see you no more in this world, I'll meet you on the next one.

I went to Lalibela but there are about 3 in the same area, the staff were super friendly and very good food, I would highly recommend them. I love the spongey pancakes but then I love dosa and uttapam,

I have tended to eat at the vegan junk food bar and another place which has since closed, but I am not a "burger" and chips person really, and I checked on one of my food apps and I spotted the Ethiopian places, which was perfect , as i love Ethiopian food on the few times I have had it and this was no exception. Amazing food and the waitress was so friendly and welcoming in the restaurant, I will say on Mondays the other 2 restaurants in the same area are closed

hi would highly recommend it ,
Thanka Kalima. I've found a place next to Vondelpark that has reviews saying it has gluten free options. I may pop in at 420.
