Long-awaited Return - 11th-14th November 2025

Post by welshmans_beard »

Hallo all,

Long time, no post. Its been a hot minute since my last visit, even longer since my last post, but here we are...

This will be my first forray to the Netherlands since September 24, although the main focus of that trip was visiting Arnhem for the 75th Anniversary of Market Garden (an amazing yet sombre experience).

A quick aside, can thoroughly recommend Arnhem and Oosterbeek for a day-trip from Amsterdam. Massively historic whilst still being fairly picturesque. Coffeeshops visited: Uncle Sam, Zero Zero, Happy Days.

*Get back on topic!*

ok, ok

This November I'll be taking a friend to Amsterdam.
It's their 30th & it's their first time abroad, so no pressure...

They are also a big smoker of solid, and has even partially turned me to the dark(brownish) side too, so would be after some similar up-to-date suggestions for good hash shops.

I posted in 2023 about a similar trip with a similar mate, and HitTheNorth recommended het Gelderse for their solid. Wow, what an absolute banger of a shop. We ended up in there at least once a day and I now recommended it to all that will listen

Also took Tokeing Tom's suggestion of Solo, another prime spot, really chilled with a cracking menu.

(Sorry this has been such a ramble, it's been a while :? )

Anyway, over to you guys, any more solid suggestions for...solid? And any new/refurbished shops that are worth a (re)visit?

Also planning a jolly to Haarlem and Zaandam, if anyone has any suggestions?

My planned list of must-sees (in Amsterdam) are currently:

het Gelderse (the new First Stop Shop)
De Kade (ngl, my absolute favorite)
Siberie
The Spirit (my love for stoned pinball outweighs the so-so menu)
Het Ballonnetje
Chapiteau
Basjoe/Bageera
The Stud
1e Hulp

Thank you all, happy blazing!

High 8) Welcome back!

Might not be a popular suggestion due to the Coffeeshop but I can recommend the Super Lemon Haze Cream from Greenhouse. My all time favourite hashish. (Maybe a little biased as it was the first hash I ever smoked in Amsterdam 8) ) Other Coffeeshops to check out are 7th Heaven/Coffeeshop 137, brilliant menu. For a traditional Dutch Coffeeshop check out Paradox.

If you’re going to Haarlem, the Jelly Hash from Coffeeshop Birdy has been talked about on this forum for years and years. Other Coffeeshops in Haarlem to check out are the Willie Wortels; Indica, Sativa & Sinsemella (Indica is opposite Windmill De Adriaan) great view for a smoke if you can get the window seat! Coffeeshop Empire, Green Grocers, Maximillian.

I did a little trip report about Haarlem at the start of the year viewtopic.php?p=437448#p437448

Enjoy your trip
sit back, blaze ganja and chill. 8)

That's a really solid list of shops there (although I am yet to visit Spirit)

On any given day de Kade us possibly my fave shop too. Siberie and Bagheera right up there too. As for Chapiteau, seriously if they had seating I'd never leave, their product us excellent and the prices are pure bargain.

@Marok21 is a font of hash knowledge and has posted some recent reviews over in the CS Reviews section. I for one value his opinion greatly.

I'm back over myself in a couple of weeks and will likely be posting what I find.

Ngl @avfc, I've a similar affection for Greenhouse's Amnesia Cream hash, so I get the feeling. 7th Heaven/135 is a new suggestion to me, just seen it's not far from Siberie so will probably give a look. Cheers for the Haarlem tips too, your trip report was the perfect read with my post-work biff...

@HtN, thank you for signposting me to @Marok21. Been going back through their posts and it's been very insightful.
If I might fangirl for a moment, reading your Travelogues over the years has been a big part of forming plans for my own adventures. I await your next dispatch with excitement.

Cheers @brufy, I've been once before in November and was always lucky with the weather. Fingers crossed, this time will be the same...
